In groups of 4, students will be assigned to a character from The Great Gatsby in which they will be responsible for creating a Twitter account. The Great Gatsby Character Twitter Profile

This project is aimed for 10th-11th grade students who are reading The Great Gatsby. This project allows them to be creative and use current technology to bring characters to life. By working in groups, it allows students experience in working with others to complete a task that last over a period of time. Students will be expected to contribute equally to the project while following guidelines clearly set forth in the rubric handed to them at the beginning of the assignment. This project will allow students experience with exploring technology, gaining a deeper understanding of their characters while working in groups to follow directions. I expect students to explore different passages in the novel and creatively express them through a twitter account. I expect students to work together to brainstorm different ways to express the necessary information and complete tasks over a period of time by cooperating as a group.

Targets: Follow guidelines set by the teacher Develop a deep understanding of the character and interactions with texts, symbols, and other characters in the novel Work efficiently and equally as a group Be interactive in order to gain a deeper understanding for the novel as a whole

Standards:
Analyze how complex characters (e.g., those with multiple or conflicting motivations) develop over the course of a text, interact with other characters, and advance the plot or develop the theme. [RL.9-10.3] Use technology, including the Internet, to produce, publish, and update individual or shared writing products, taking advantage of technologys capacity to link to other information and to display information flexibly and dynamically. [W.9-10.6] Work with peers to set rules for collegial discussions and decision-making (e.g., informal consensus, taking votes on key issues, presentation of alternate views), clear goals and deadlines, and individual roles as needed. [SL.9-10.1b]
