IP Addressing
IP addresses can be static or dynamic (via a DHCP server)
Note: NVRs Cameras and Encoders should use static IP Note: NVR s, Cameras, and Encoders should use static IP

All devices must be in same IP network, unless using a router

NetMask determines which part of the address is network ID

IP Addressing Getting Started
If you have not done so yet, plug in your network cable
and set the IP Address you were assigned and set the IP Address you were assigned.
Go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections
Disable any extra LAN connections, including wireless

1. Go to Start > Run ; type cmd to display DOS prompt

Adding Maps & Cameras
Drag a map, or maps, into the black area
You can use gif jpg and png files but not bitmaps You can use .gif, .jpg and .png files, but not bitmaps
Specify map to be the top layer (default) map

Adding Monitors
1. Click on Add Monitor
2 Click to draw a monitor representation on the grid 2. Click to draw a monitor representation on the grid.
Note: you can resize the monitor after filling in the form
for its settings.

3. Enter a label for the monitor (e.g., Public #1 ), its IP
address and port number address, and port number

ID number will be assigned automatically. Click OK.
4. To resize a monitor in the grid, click drag any side of the
rectangle.

Tip: You can use the same port numbers on each viewing station, just using

Macro Presets Camera Groups
Macro Presets are used to switch
entire camera groups to a monitor entire camera groups to a monitor
group. Multiple cameras can be
sent to multiple monitors at once.

Macro Presets Maps
Map Presets are links on a map to a preset view; offers
alternative method of selecting preset views in addition alternative method of selecting preset views, in addition
to the preset drop down list.
Click on Create Map Preset . The cursor will change into

Draw a polygonal link on the map using the cursor.
Upon completing (closing) the polygon, its outline will be p p g ( g) p yg ,
highlighted; double-click to open the Target Map Dialog
box.
Note: You can either use an existing preset to link to from the map, or create an
entirely new preset to link to. If a new preset is chosen, it will also show up on the
preset drop down list.

Camera Preview Window
Hovering over a camera icon will pop up a preview
window of the cameras live feed window of the camera s live feed.
Allows continued monitoring cameras even if they are not
displayed on the video wall.
Preview window can be docked anywhere on the map.
Click within preview window to control PTZ cameras

NetSwitcher Viewer
The NetSwitcher Viewer application displays the video

Installation and Login
Install the application from NetSwitcher CD.
To Launch: Start > All Programs > OnSSI > NetSwitcher Viewer To Launch: Start > All Programs > OnSSI > NetSwitcher Viewer
To Login:
Select display under Select Display

For each view, enter its port number
Enter the IP address of the Server
Click on OK
Note: Login is not required if a viewer.ini file is created and placed in the folder:

The viewer.ini File
Contains the instructions for each PC driving the video
wall or remote monitor screen on the location and size of wall or remote monitor screen, on the location and size of
one or more virtual monitors.
Allows displaying grids of 1x1, 2x2, 3x3 or 4x4 viewers
Load each PCs viewer.ini file to C:\Program
Files\OnSSI\NetSwitcher Viewer.

The viewer.ini File - Syntax
[Viewers]: required header
Viewer [n]=: sequential numeric identifier (0 1 2 3 n) for Viewer_[n]=: sequential numeric identifier (0,1,2,3..n) for
each viewer on the NetSwitcher Viewer PC.
/grid=[n]: defines grid dimensions. grid=1 denotes a
single view per monitor screen; grid=2 denotes a 2x2
array; grid =3 denotes a 3x3 array, and so on.
/loc=[m],[n]: defines the placement of the viewer in the [ ],[ ] p
grid. First digit denotes the horizontal placement, second
digit denotes the vertical placement (e.g. on a 3x3 grid,
loc=2,3 denotes the second column, third row view. loc 2,3 denotes the second column, third row view.

The viewer.ini File Syntax (cont)
/size=[n]: defines how many grid cells would be used by
the viewer For a example size=2 viewer in a 3x3 grid the viewer. For a example size=2 viewer in a 3x3 grid
would occupy a 2x2 grid-cell area.
/port=[n]: port number for each view, as configured in the

/adapter=[n]: the adapter ID for each physical monitor. If
the computer has a quad-screen video card, change the
adapter ID for each viewer according to the screen it
would be displayed on.
