SAMPLE QUESTION PAPER - 3 XI- BIOLOGY Time: 3 Hrs MM: 70

General Instructions: i. ii. iii. iv. v. vi. vii. All questions are compulsory. This question paper consists of four Sections A, B, C and D. Section A contains 8 questions of one mark each. Section B is of 10 questions of two marks each. Section C is of 9 questions of three marks each. Section D is of 3 questions of five marks each. There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in one question of 2 marks, one question of 3 marks and all the three questions of 5 marks weightage. A student has to attempt only one of the alternatives in such questions. viii. Wherever necessary, the diagrams drawn should be neat and properly labelled.

9. Differentiate an epigynous flower from a hypogynous flower. 10. Draw a labelled diagram of a bacteriophage. Or Draw a labelled diagram of a funaria plant. 11. Differentiate Platyhelminthes and Aschelminthes. 12. What are nuclear pores? Mention their functions. 13. Comment on the statement: There is a complex traffic of molecules in plants. 14. Mention the four assumptions made while calculating the number of ATP molecules formed during respiration. 15. Differentiate epithelial tissue and connective tissue. 16. Mention any four applications of auxins in plant growth. 17. Compare the potted plants kept in the sunlight with those in the shade. Which of them has leaves that are darker green? Why? 18. Mention two functions of a) calcium in meristems and b) zinc in plants. Section C (3 x 9 = 27)

Describe the different types of plastids, their pigments and functions. Or Explain the steps in urine formation in a human kidney.
