SYNOPSIS

The course discusses some important aspects of the

functional processes in plants. It includes the relation of water
to plants and the acquisition of inorganic nutrients, the
significance of roots, root-soil interaction and assimilation of
nitrogen.  The principles of energy transduction and carbon
metabolism, the fundamental aspects of cell enlargement,
plant hormone, plant movement, photomorphogenesis, and
stress physiology are also discussed.
(Kursus ini membincangkan sebahagian aspek yang penting
dalam fungsi tumbuhan. Ini termasuklah perkaitan air dengan
tumbuhan, keperluan nutrien inorganik, kepentingan akar,
interaksi akar-tanah dan asimilasi nitrogen. Prinsip-prinsip
pemindahan tenaga dan metabolisma karbon, aspek asas
pembesaran sel, hormon tumbuhan, pergerakan tumbuhan,
fotomorfogensis dan fisiologi kepayahan juga disentuh.)

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Students will be able to:

1. Distinguish specific pathways involved in plant transportation, photosynthesis,

photomorphogenesis, movement, regulation and their mechanisms. (C4)
2. Conduct experiments scientifically and conclude their observations. (P4)
3. Justify the importance of abiotic factors such as water, mineral, and light in plant
growth and development. (A3)
4. Organize a symposium to discuss, exhibit and present their mini projects. (L2S,
CS3, P4)
