Palm Sunday Special Fellowship

On Sunday, April 13, plan to stay after worship for delicious hot cross buns and learn to turn your palm fronds from worship into crosses. Fun for all ages!

We continue a Dairy Drive on behalf of the St. Sabina Social Service Store at 79th & Racine in Chicagos Auburn Gresham neighborhood untill April 13. Such scarce items are much needed and appreciated in a community where unemployment is over 25%. The store provides a place for customers to shop for food and clothing for free.

So, you will find empty milk gallon containers in the narthex and Tolman Hall during this time for coin and cash donations that will be driven to the store along with Mens Clothing collected at our recent Mens Fellowship Springfest BBQ. Lenten

Happy Birthday

Last week, 23 high school students and six adults traveled to the Dominican Republic to continue working in partnership with a church that has sites in and around Gaspar Hernandez. We continued work to help build a community center, helped to run a day camp for children in the community, and were able to spend a great deal of time building and continuing relationships with the Dominicans, as well as within our group. We worked, played, laughed, were challenged, and learned much. We had an opportunity to live into Gods story of love, and to glimpse how powerful that love can be when people come together as the body of Christ. We thank you again for your support to help make the trip happen! We look forward to sharing more about the trip with you on Youth Sunday and during Fiesta del Sol, both of which will be April 27th.

2014

Lenten

Devotionals

Each Sunday we are including a devotional in the bulletin for each week during Lent based on the Beatitudes as inspired by a highly recommended book Blessings for Leaders. These devotionals are also available on our website under Worship by scrolling down to Lenten Devotionals.

Proposed Interfaith

Holy Land Tour

The Winnetka Interfaith Council, through the expertise of its President and travel agent. Dr. Mitch Slotnick, is proposing 10-day Interfaith Holy Land Tour for our local congregations sometime next Fall 2014 or Midwinter 2015. Significant sites in the Abrahamic faith traditions of Christians, Jews, and Muslims would be highlighted in the areas of Tel Aviv, Haifa, Galilee and Jerusalem. Contingent on number of pilgrims, the combined cost for air, basic room and board, and bus would range between $4000-$4500 per person. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, contact William Mueller at bill@wcc-joinus.org. We will be happy to provide you a handout.

The WCC Women's Society is seeking a responsi ble person to digitize the card catalog of the Tyrrell Library in Tolman Hall and set up a system where new additions can be entered by computer. This transition from paper record keeping to on-line access will make the libr ary's collection more available to all church members. This is a job for a volunteer with technical skills and devotion to the church. It can be done from home or at the library, and might be valuable as a volunteer project on a job resume or college application. Please contact Laur ie Morse at 847-835-4123 for more information.

Would you like to learn more about WCC?

Three informational meetings are scheduled with Senior Pastor, Joseph Shank, for those persons interested in learning more about Winnetka Congregational Church and what it means to be a member. Scheduled dates are April 13 at 7 p.m. If you would like to be a part of one of these gatherings, please contact Char Lillquist, Assistant to the Pastors, at Char@wcc-joinus.org or call the church office (847-441-3400).

Last Chance

On Easter Sunday, our Sanctuary is graced with dozens of Easter plants which have been provided by members and friends at a suggested donation of $40. If you would like to give a plant this year in memory or in honor of a loved one, please send this form with a check to the church office. Please respond by Monday, April 14, to be acknowledged in the Easter Bulletin.

ver the past few weeks the WCC 2020 Vision team has fine-tuned the implementation plan and, significantly, has redeveloped our Mission, Vision, and Belief statements. This was presented to Leadership on Tuesday, March 11. Since then, the 2020 team has worked on further revisions with a goal to gain Council approval on Tuesday April 8 to bring the implementation plan to the congregation for discussion. The plan is posted on our website. More importantly we want to once again engage the congregation in a dialogue. The 2020 team will start a listening tour with Caf Sessions after church on April 13 and 27. Additionally, members of the WCC 2020 team would like to engage with small groups, particularly Spiritual Life, to discuss the plan. We hope that you will invite us to join one of your April sessions. Our goal is to have the congregation ratify the plan at the annual meeting, likely May 4, 2014.
