What is JCI? Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a worldwide community of young active citizens between 1840 years who share the belief that in order to create positive change, they must take collective action to improve themselves and the world around them. Jaycees engage in social activities ranging from sustainable development to international projects, taking responsibility for their communities while improving themselves through participation, leadership and action. How did JCI start? Initiated by Henry Giessenbier, Jr in St. Louis, USA in 1915, Junior Chambers International (JCI) was formalized in 1944 and is headquartered at Chester Field, USA. Today it has more than 6,000 Local JCI Chapters across the globe connecting 200,000 active citizens in more than 100 countries. What does JCI do? JCI Promotes Active citizenship i.e. the capacity we all have to work together towards our common goals. This sense of social responsibility and the initiative to take action to benefit society links all of JCI. JCI strives to create better leaders to create better societies. How does JCI do this? By providing the environment for young people to meet, learn and grow. JCI offers meetings, events, dynamic training sessions, speakers, projects and socially relevant programs. JCI members constantly seek ways to live JCIs slogan, Be Better. What can JCI give? JCI can give you the confidence to reach inside yourself and achieve more than you would have thought possible. JCI members not only believe that improvement is possible in their communities and in themselves, they believe it is their responsibility. How can I Benefit?
