Rules on solving linear equations :
1. The same number may be added to both sides of an equation .
For example :
p -3 =7

add 3 to both side

2. The same number may be subtracted from both sides of an equation.

For example :

subtract 3 to both side

3. Both sides of an equation may be multiplied by the same number .
