We gather today as Gods beloved children to worship our Heavenly Father.

We praise his holy name, we listen eagerly for his words of comfort, hope, and challenge to us, and we offer ourselves to him in dedicated service. May you be blessed as you worship here today.

St. Paul Lutheran Church is a congregation of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (E.L.C.A.). It is referred to as Borchers since Rev. Henry Borchers, who served our congregation from 1857-1881, advised and influenced a small group of pioneer settlers that wanted to establish a congregation in the area. This year we celebrate 162 years of life and ministry in this beautiful country setting in Southern Indiana. We look forward to many more years of growth and change as we seek continually to be faithful to Gods call to mission.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is

offered at the 8:00 a.m. services on the 2nd and 4th Sundays and at the 10:15 a.m. service on the 1st and the 3rd Sundays of the month. Christians who believe in the true presence of Christ in the bread and wine for our forgiveness and salvation are invited to receive Holy Communion.

As a way to be intentional about praying, I will be offering two different times each month for people to gather for the sole purpose of praying together. As we gather, we will begin with a short teaching on prayer followed by time spent lifting up a variety of requests and whatever else is on peoples mind. The dates for these prayer gatherings are: This evening 7:00 pm and Wednesday, April 30th @ 7:30 pm. Any questions, please talk with Pastor Steve. If you are unable to come, you are still invited to take time during these appointed times to pray and lift up a variety of requests and petitions to God. PRAISE TEAM will practice today during Sunday School. WINGS 5MILE RUN/WALK will be April 27th. Registration forms are at the Welcome Center.

SUNDAY SCHOOL STUDENTS, Your help is needed with collecting items to assemble the Lutheran World Relief Personal Care Kits & Baby Care Kits. Donations have been lower for the last few years, so our goal during the month of April is to collect enough supplies to fill 50 kits. Boxes will be placed outside of the classrooms to drop off your donations. READ ALL ABOUT IT! By the Mission Out Reach Room you will find a collection box for gently used and new books appropriate for reading levels 1st through 7th grade. Books will be donated to Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Reading Camp, a week long summer camp devoted to struggling readers. The books collected at St. Paul will be given to attendees to take home with them after camp, and used to practice their skills throughout the summer. This is a great opportunity to weed books from your childs collection he/she may have outgrown, and pass them on to benefit another child! If you have questions about donating books or about the camp, contact Susie Alstatt at 524.0947. CARE FOR GOD'S CREATION, an Earth Day event, will take place again this year in the church parking lot from 9 AM to 11 AM on Saturday, April 26. Skilled and unskilled volunteers are needed. Donations of cash and supplies are needed, as well as a light lunch for our group of volunteers. Going Deeper

The purpose of this page is to provide a tool or instrument for your spiritual growth. This page contains a brief synopsis of the readings as well as some questions for your reflection to help you go deeper with the Word. On the back is a day by day listing of scripture readings with possible prayer request. Individuals are listed on their day of birthso that you might pray for them on their birthday. Also on the back is the prayer list for the congregation. Keep on Growing Spiritually!! Readings for the Day: Philippians 2:5-11: Christ did not act to attain status and glory but was obedient to God even to the point of death. Following Christs example, we do not seek personal status or glory but care for others as God cared for us in Christs death. John 12:12-19 & 19:16-22: Combining the Hosanna! of the triumphal palm procession and the Crucify him! of the passion drama into one liturgy invites a meditation on the mystery of Jesus sovereignty. We are confronted by this incongruity: this king has to borrow a donkey, a room, and a tomb. From Sunday & Seasons, copyright 2014 Augsburg Fortress

NOTES:

Questions To Ponder: 1What is the significance of Palm Sunday? 2Why do you think that the disciples did not understand this event on Palm Sunday? 3What does the word Hosanna mean? What is significant about people shouting hosanna? 4Why do you think the crowd went from shouting Hosanna one day to crucify him in less than a week?

Memory Verse: John 12:13 13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord the King of Israel!"
