Nomination for Chaplain

Why am I accepting this position?

In the past year and a half God has captured my heart for His purposes. In coming into
BYX freshman year I knew God wanted to use me, but I also knew I had to grow and be
poured into a lot before He could use me. My first year God taught me a lot about what
fellowship among Christian men looks like (something Iʼve never had before now). This
past summer God put me in a position at Sky Ranch Cave Springs where I learned what
it meant to serve each and every day. This semester I was given the opportunity of Cell
Group Panel Representative along with being a Cell Group Leader. I knew God has
been and still is preparing me to pour out to others instead of just being poured into. In
accepting this opportunity I have realized more and more just how much God has given
me a love of other people (granted I am still growing in that as well). I hope that as
Chaplain I can show others just what God loves to do, change us from the inside out. I
would like to serve the fraternity and help everyone grow towards the Lord. I donʼt
honestly know if He is ready for me to do this or not, but I know that ultimately it isnʼt me
in charge, it is Him. In the past when I have been unsure if what circumstances have
come about are from the Lord, I have taken that leap of faith and trusted Him and He
has pushed and challenged me such that I depend more on Him. Case in point, Sky
Ranch this past summer. So, although I donʼt know if it is from Him, I am willing to meet
Him halfway and say here I am, use me according to your will. And the rest is up to Him.

Why would I be good at this position?

I feel that I would be good at this position because God has blessed me with a love of
people. And through that love I want others to know the Lord as I have grown to know
Him this past year and a half. I feel that through the experiences God has put me
through in my life, He has developed in me maturity when needed, better discernment
of His will (still growing though), a desire to help others grow, and the capabilities
required to lead others.

My vision for this position?

I hope that all of what God has challenged me with in my life can be used to pour out to
others around me. In that, I see the Chaplain as the encourager of encouragers. My
vision for Chaplain would be a man who pushes Cell Groups to be the life sharing, God
encountering, encouragement filled groups that they are meant to be. Chaplain is the
man who pursues other men with a passion that they know the Lord more above all
else. And not just know, but follow the Lord fully. I hope that the next Chaplain will
continue the work of previous Chaplains and continue to strive headfirst towards God
and continue to grow and push other men and the Cell Groups toward the Lord.
My vision for this chapter?
My vision for this chapter is that this chapter be pushed further towards the Lord to
where Brothers Under Christ rings as true as it can. I desire to see this chapter serve
and love others such that others see Christ. I hope that we can be so captivated by God
that it radiates throughout our lives. I desire that we as brothers grow together and strive
together to be better men of God. I hope to see the Lord through my brothers.

What, if anything, would I like to change?

As of now, the Chaplain is very involved in growing and encouraging his cell group and
the panel representatives. I see that in putting trust in the panel representatives, the
Chaplain humbles himself and gives the opportunity for others to serve just as he
serves. I agree completely with putting so much trust in the panel. I will only change
something if I feel that the change would help the Chaplain, panel representatives, and
chapter as a whole grow towards the Lord more.
