INSTITUTE OF LAW, NIRMA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WELFARE BOARD VIBES 14 NATIONAL CULTURAL CUM SPORTS FEST PHOTOGRAPHY PERISCOPE

Institute of Law was set up in 2007 under Nirma University with a vision to promote excellence in the field of legal education. The present day vibrant as well as volatile scenario of the country in particular and the world in general requires the legal system to be strengthened enough to be able to make sufficient contribution in national development and social burden in a constructive manner. Setting up of the Institute of Law was a small step taken in this direction. To meet the ever increasing needs of the legal education, the Institute set up high standards of academic excellence, research, and innovation so that our students could be at par with the best in the industry. Keeping this target in mind, world class infrastructure legal education is imparted to our students.

PERISCOPE UNDER VIBES14 The Institute of Law, Nirma University, feels proud to organize its 1st photography (online cum in-campus) event, as a part of its 1st National Cultural cum Sports fest VIBES 14. I. Themes for the competition: 1. The First theme named Candid for the online competition is open, i.e the participants can send any pic clicked by them on the official facebook account ( www.facebook.com/vibes.ilnu ) of the competition and the same in a mail as an attachment to vibes.ilnu@nirmauni.ac.in. The themes can be of various domains such as: 1.1 Scenes beauty shots of landscapes, seascapes, fishing villages, lighthouses, etc. Shoreline cliffs, beaches, etc. Nature wildlife, birds and wildflowers in natural habitat. People individuals of any age, capturing character and spirit and a little fun! On Vacation having fun on vacation, at a favourite attraction, festival, beach, dining, or activity. Humorous fun photos that make you smile, or laugh out loud 1.2 Last entry shall be accepted till 11:59pm on the 7th day of April 2014 and the last likes will be counted till 11:59pm on the 9th day of April 2014.

The winners of this genre will be decided upon the number of likes you score on your image published on the Facebook page of Vibes14. The top ten photos selected by the panel will be displayed in a gallery exhibition at VIBES14. 2. The second theme for the competition is Indias Endangered Professions. The theme has been chosen as an effort to highlight The entrants and entries have to keep themselves restricted to the snaps of various professions which have been in custom since long but barely being practiced now-a-days, vis--vis snake charming, pottery, ironsmiths, goldsmiths etc. 2.1 The participants are required to send their click in high resolution format (.jpeg/.jpg) to the official mail id of VIBES14 i.e., vibes.ilnu@nirmauni.ac.in. 2.2 The entries must capture the heart and soul of the theme, however in case of any contention regarding the same, the decision of the OC and judges will be deemed final and binding. 2.3 The last entry shall be accepted till 11:59pm on the 9th day of April 2014, and after best 5 shall be put on an exhibition in VIBES14. 2.4 The top 3 photos shall be eligible for illusive prizes and a certificate of participation will be given to all.

3. The third theme is named Life in Campus. 3.1 The participants have to capture the life inside the Nirma University during two days of their three days stay, i.e on the 12th and 13th of April. 3.2 Only one entry per participant is allowed, but you can always register twice. 3.3 The entries should be mailed to the official email id of VIBES14 by 10pm on 13th of April. 3.4 The top five entries shall be eligible for prizes and a certificate of participation will be awarded to all. Registration Details: 1. Registration. 1.1 The participants shall register themselves on the official website of VIBES14. 1.2 There shall be no registration fees for the first online theme Candid. Its absolutely free. 1.3 The registration fees per entry for the second and third theme, i.e.,Indias Endangered Professions & Life in Campus is INR 200. The

participants wishing to avail accommodation will have to pay INR 1000 for three days on spot.

III.

GROUND RULES FOR THE COMPETITION Entries are to be digital photographs and submitted electronically as jpeg/jpg format. Content alteration of files is not acceptable, including combining multiple photos. Cropping of photos is permitted but tonal or colour corrections are not. Borders, frames text or other graphic treatments are not permitted; nevertheless, watermarks with feeble color tone are acceptable, subject to scrutiny. Photographs entered must not have been previously published. Individuals can only win once per category, but may win in multiple categories.

The photographs dont have to be professionally taken, but they do need to be original, taken by the person submitting them. Entrants are required to be registered on the VIBES 14 website to submit the photos Submissions must include a real name, contact number and valid email address. Your email address and mobile number is used for internal purposes only, so winners can be notified. The name of the entrant will appear as a credit for the image, so it should indicate the person who took the photo. The contest entries require a "photo caption," a very brief description of where the photo was taken. Winners will be chosen not solely on the technical details of the photo, but also on how it captures the heart and soul of the Theme. Entries must adhere to time.

IV.

OFFICIAL RULES Each photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the contest entrant. By entering the contest, the entrant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks,

moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity, or that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the photograph. The photograph must not contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content. Photographs that include sculptures, statues, paintings, and other works of art will be accepted as long as they do not constitute copyright infringement or fraud. When photographing the work of others, it must be as an object in its environment and not a full-frame close-up of another persons art; the entrant must submit the title and artist of the piece of art included in a photograph. If the photograph contains any material or elements that are not owned by the entrant and/or that are subject to the rights of third parties. and/or if any persons appear in the photograph, the entrant is responsible for obtaining, prior to submission of the photograph, any and all releases and consents necessary to permit the exhibition and use of the photograph in the manner set forth in these rules without additional compensation. If any person appearing in any photograph is under the age of 18 and is not the child of the person submitting the photograph, the entrant submitting the photograph is responsible for obtaining proper permission and contact information from the parent or guardian of the child. Submit an original photograph, taken by you that convey what the theme means to you (Photograph). Include a title for the Photograph, a written description (100 words or less) of the moment captured and how it reflects a sense of exploration or adventure (Description), the location where the Photograph was taken, and the names of any persons in the Photograph (if known). Your entry must comply with the following requirements (the Entry Requirements): All photograph submissions must be 5 megabytes or smaller, must be in JPEG or JPG format, and must be at least 1,600 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 1,600 pixels tall (if a vertical image). Hand tinting is acceptable, as is cropping. Fish-eye lenses are acceptable. High dynamic range images (HDR) and stitched panoramas are not acceptable. Any changes to the original Photograph not itemized here are unacceptable and will render the Photograph ineligible for a prize. Photographs that include sculptures, statues, paintings, and other works of art will be accepted as long as they do not constitute copyright infringement or fraud. When photographing the work of others, it must be as an object in its environment and not a full-frame close up of another persons art.

The Photograph and the Description, each in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the contest entrant.

V.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS: By entering the Contest, entrant represents, acknowledges and warrants that the submitted Photograph and Description are original works created solely by the entrant and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the Photograph or the Description. Though you retain copyright in each image submitted, the digital image file(s) submitted will not be returned or acknowledged. Obscene, provocative, or otherwise objectionable content will not be considered, and such determination is solely at the discretion of OC. The OC reserves the right to amend, modify, change or repeal any of the Competition Rules at any point of time without notice to any Participating Teams or any other parties. The OC reserves the right to take decisions on any matter not mentioned in the Competition Rules. Any such decision taken by the OC shall be final and binding upon all parties. The OC reserves the right to interpret any of the Competition Rules. Any such interpretation taken shall be final and binding upon all parties. The OC may depart from these Competition Rules in exceptional circumstances at its sole discretion without giving notice to any parties. If there arises any situation that is not contemplated in these Rules, the OCs decision on this shall be final and binding on all parties. All decision of the OC regarding any aspect of the Competition or in case of any dispute between any parties shall be final and binding upon all the concerned parties. The contestants by entering in the contest give Competition organisers the right to publicise the winning entries without any royalty or compensation. The contestants by entering in the contest agree to indemnify Competition Organisers from and against all claims, suits, and damages based on any claim of copyright infringement or plagiarism or unauthorized use. Competition Organisers will not be responsible for any condition beyond its control that may cause the contest to be interrupted.
