10 Plugged In BY ADRIAN GARZA Alright, lets clear the air, what is Death is Inevi- table supposed to mean? Its about how there cant be life without death. Mainly what it is about is, the older we get, the more experiences we have. Ive been thinking about how the things Ive said and done in the past have not only made me the person who I am, but [have] shaped other people for the better or the worse. When we are young, being young and innocent and not really understanding the actions that weve [done], we create consequences that we wont see until ten or twenty years down the road. Some of those things that Ive done (whether they were for the better or the worse), particularly the worse, have come to fruition in me. Im learning what it means to walk through that un- derstanding what Ive done and how that is going to affect the rest of my life. Tell me about your approach to songwriting. Every song is, for the most part, a self-evaluation. A lot oI hardcore bands like to point the fnger at other people. I tend to write with more oI a selI-refection pointing at myself. The Intro starts off with saying, youve planted the seeds, now reap the harvest of my hatred. Refned through these trials oI liIe, now this is certain: I am reborn, I am new. In order to declare that youve been forgiven, there is a process that you have to walk through. You know, washing the flth away. The rest of the album is talking about what it is that Im stepping away from. Not only that, but how am I going to be able to be a man and be of God in addition to what my fears are and how I stay true to values Ive instilled. The denition of success varies from person to per- son, especially in the world of music. Although you guys are still pretty far off from selling out venues, youre still signed to a label and youve been able to open up for some bigger national acts when theyve come to Tampa. What would you dene successful as? I think success for this is that weve been able to set clear goals and accomplish them with our friends. Weve been able to record an album, have our friends do the artwork, and pick every single aspect of this record specifcally. A lot oI touring bands put a lot in and just walk away empty. For us, weve always learned so much about ourselves. Every single time weve ever gone out with bands, weve made it a point to form relationships with those to help change the perspective of what Christian and hardcore looks like, and weve always come back. There have been times where weve been met with oppression to that, where it just doesnt click with some people. But more times than none, you can call it favor, but were able to relate with someone because were both hardcore kids. So I think thats success in itself. With Increases Death is Inevitable will be released on February 25, 2014 through Blood & Ink Records. Tampas With Increase has been grinding away for over three years playing Christian hardcore in venues that span the entire east coast of the US. On February 25, the group will reach a new milestone in their career with the release of their debut album, Death is Inevitable, through Blood and Ink Records. I recently sat with the quartets frontman, SEUs own Will Steinbrecher, for insight on the record and what its like to be a part of this band. $FFRUGLQJ 7R , Like us on Facebook: Facebook.com/seutimes
