Math Lesson Reflection During my lesson I fully accomplished my objectives I set forth in the beginning.

I know that I fully accomplished my objectives because I assessed the students on the objectives and each student showed proficiency. Proficiency in this case was 80%, which meant the students had to answer 4 out of 5 questions/ problems correctly. I feel that my teaching methods were effective. I believe this because each student me the proficiency goal. However, during the lesson I accommodated for different types of learners by not only explaining problems, but visually showing each problem on my Interwrite board. All students were able to measure objects in the room at their desk and accurately plot them on a horizontal scale. Each child knew what each X on the horizontal plot signified. If I had some students who did not meet the objectives set forth I would present the material in a different manner. This all depends on how many students didnt meet the objectives. If it was a small group I would pull that small l group to the side while the students who already finished would begin centers. In the small group I would model again how to use the correct side of the ruler (in or cm) based on the information in the question. If they grasp that I would demonstrate how we measure from the edge of the ruler, and then the end of the object is that objects length. In the small group it would be all about modeling and watching them measure to find out why the student didnt meet objectives. The most effective part of my lesson was seeing that every one of my students met the objectives. This was also the most rewarding part. This gave me a boost of confidence that I did a good job relating content to the students. This was really good for me because sometimes when teaching younger children I seem to talk over their heads because mentally I feel like they already know certain information that they do not. As I get more familiar with the standards of the particular grade I am in, I am sure this will be less occurring. In my lesson I would improve on the number of objects I let the students measure. I would ultimately limit the number of objects because I lost valuable instructional time while students searched in their desks for certain objects. Maybe next time I will have a preset amount of objects that I distribute to the

students so that the lesson runs smoother. I learned that children learn mathematics in many different ways. Some children are auditory and visual learners, while others or tactile learners, meaning they have to put their hands on it. The visual and auditory learners were the ones who grasped this lesson early on, but the tactile learners were the ones who did grasp the concept until they actually performed measuring. Howard Garners theory of Multiple Intelligences applied to this lesson. MI theory applied to this lesson clearly due to the fact that the different types of learners in the class each needed to perform a measurement in their own way so that they understood. I feel I did a great job following along with Garners theory and I assisted all students needs.
