S4CS4. Students will use ideas of system, model, change, and scale in exploring scientific and technological matters. a. Observe and describe how parts influence one another in things with many parts. b. Use geometric figures, number sequences, graphs, diagrams, sketches, number lines, maps, and stories to represent corresponding features of objects, events, and processes in the real world. Identify ways in which the representations do not match their original counterparts. c. Identify patterns of change in thingssuch as steady, repetitive, or irregular changeusing records, tables, or graphs of measurements where appropriate. 3. Research and Information Fluency - Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information. a. Plan strategies to guide inquiry b. Locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a variety of sources and media c. Evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on the appropriateness to specific tasks d. Process data and report results The students should be able to research a particular topic in astronomy and compose a challenging array of questions for their peers to solve with the use of critical thinking. Given the use of the Internet for research, the students will create a digital scavenger hunt that will challenge their peers in a particular subject area along with a key to 90% accuracy and completeness.
Description of Assessment
Assessment Plan: Students will create a list of questions after deducing scientific information from reputable sources on the web. The questions are to challenge their peers and not just simply have them search a website for the printed answer. This will prove to be beneficial to the students education of research techniques and critical thinking.
