2014 HOME BASE SYMPOSIUM

Welcome
WELCOME TO THE 2014 HOME BASE NC SYMPOSIUM! We are thrilled that you can join us to participate in an event that will offer you hands-on courses, introduce you to new tools and initiatives, and give you the opportunity to network with users from across the state. Volunteers from the NCDPI, Pearson, and the LEAs have worked hard to assemble an informative Symposium for you. This school year we continue to complete the move from the eSIS student information software to Pearsons PowerSchool suite. While at the Symposium, be sure to network with NCDPI and Pearson staff members and LEA attendees. Attend as many sessions as you can t into your day. Design your Symposium schedule with the individual schedule form located in your registration booklet to assist you in getting the most out of this milestone event.

Presenters We want to thank all the presenters who have so graciously accepted our call to present at this years Symposium. We have included their names in this program. Without their support, time in preparation, and willingness to present, we could not conduct a Symposium of this size. Presentations Available presentation materials were posted on the www.nc-sis.org site prior to the start of the Symposium. We hope that in your planning to come to the conference you found this procedure benecial.
Please note: Presentations were developed by the speakers; NCDPI assumes no responsibility for the content or validity of these presentations.

Cell Phones Cell Phone Hot Spots SHOULD NOT be used, as these will interrupt internet connections for everyone and users will not be able to access the internet.
Free Wireless internet is available throughout the hotel for conference attendees who are staying at the hotel. Non-hotel guests attending the conference may access the wireless internet for a fee of $5.00 per day. Please see hotel staff for details. As a courtesy to the presenters and to your fellow classmates, we request that you turn off any mobile devices that may disrupt class. If you need to make or take a call, please exit the classroom rst.

Survey and Certicate The evaluation survey will be online again this year. We ask that you take a few minutes to complete the survey and provide feedback on the sessions that you attended. Once you have completed your survey at the end of the Symposium, you will receive your Certicate of Attendance. The Certicate of Attendance may be used to apply for CEU credit as determined by your LEA. The link to the survey will be sent to the e-mail address you provided when you registered for the Symposium.
