This document explains the accompanying ExpressPCB circuit board files.

Those files will only work for ExpressPCB.com (Ctrl+Click to use the link at left . !ownload and install their free software to access the files. "nce the software is installed# open a PCB file by double clicking on it. $elect Print from the %ile menu to print the PCB on paper. $elect the Top Copper &ayer and $ilk $creen &ayer and do not check the Enlarge to %it Page option. 't will then print the circuit layout at the actual si(e. &ay your components on the printed sheet to make sure they will physically fit the circuit board as laid out. !o not order the circuit boards if your components don)t fit. *ou can rework the circuit board fileto fit your components or try another of the accompanying files. There are two different layouts with different si(ed capacitors in the accompanying files designated by +&g+ or +$m+ in the file name for the si(e of the input capacitors. The si(es for both are gi,en at the end of this document. There are also three different layouts for ExpressPCB)s manufacturing options. The +-iniBoard+ manufacturing option re.uires that the board be exactly /.0+ 1 2.3+ and cannot ha,e any copper closer than 4.453+ to the edge of the board. 6hen you use this option you will always recei,e three boards. Each +&g+ board will accommodate six modules and each +$m+ board will accommodate nine modules# 6ith three boards you will ha,e circuits for 50 +&g+ modules or 27 +$m+ modules. The -iniBoard manufacturing option also has an option to include silkscreen and solder mask# known as the -iniBoardPro. The standard -iniBoard option does not include those features. The standard -iniBoard option is a little cheaper but ' highly recommend using the -iniBoardPro option to get the solder mask. 8fter assembly the circuits need to be insulated from the air as much as possible and the solder mask will do most of this for you. 't also makes a more professional look because you also get the silkscreen de,ice outlines and the connection '!s. The bare boards will work but they need to be lac.uered before and after assembly to insulate the traces. The +ProtoPro+ manufacturing option re.uires that the board not be more than 25 s.uare inches but the dimensions are flexible. They always make four boards with this option. Each +&g+ board will accommodate 52 modules and each +$m+ board will accommodate 50 modules. 6ith four boards you will ha,e circuits for 90 +&g+ modules and 72 +$m+ modules. This option always has the solder mask and silkscreen features. There are two other manufacturing options for boards as large as 52+ 1 59+# the maximum si(e allowable by ExpressPCB. They will accommodate 555 +&g+ modules and 539 +$m+ modules. There are also two manufacturing options. The $tandard $er,ice excludes the solder mask and silkscreen and the Production $er,ice includes these features. The latter is recommended. These boards may only be ordered in pairs and the minimum order is two. There is# howe,er# no maximum order and since the setup cost is included in the first pair# the cost per board goes down as the .uantity increases. ExpressPCB boards can only be ordered ,ia the internet. 6hen you are ready to order select Compute Board Cost from the &ayout menu and step through the options you ha,e chosen and it will show you your cost. They include shipping in the cost so computed costs may ,ary from location to location determined by your :'P code. They will ship outside the ;.$. 6hen ready to order# select the +Test "rdering Boards <ia The 'nternet+ from the layout menu. 't will confirm that the boards can be ordered this way. 'f that is confirmed you are ready to do it. The boards will be deli, ered

according to the shipping method you chose when ordering. ' ha,en)t had a problem recei, ing the boards in the many years ' ha,e used their ser, ice. 'f ordering ,ia the internet fails# select +=enerate Plot %ile %or -anual "rder+ from the &ayout menu. 't will generate a file in the same folder as the PCB file and that file can be uploaded to ExpressPCB. $ee the ExpressPCB help for instructions on manually uploading the file. 8 few notes on the accompanying PCB layouts> IMPORTANT: The si(es of the traces on the printed circuit boards may not be sufficient to carry the current of your system. The 8scanius system is highly dependent on local en,ironmental factors. 'f your local en,ironment is highly amenable to the 8scanius circuit it may produce more power than these circuit boards can conduct. The traces ha,e been si(ed based on the information in Patrick ?. @elly)s Practical Guide to 'Free Energy' Devices. They assume 4.AB4 6atts per module based on the information that !ragan @lCaCic)s produced AB 6atts using two boards of 34 modules each. 't was not# howe,er# stated what the ,oltage was so ' used the /4 <olts mentioned in the document. That results in 4.4/2 amps per module. The trace si(es were determined from that and the number of modules per board and the number of boards in a minimum order from ExpressPCB. Three -iniBoards and four ProtoPro boards of one order can be chained together without damaging the traces as long as the 4.4/2 amps per module# mentioned abo,e is not exceeded. 8dding additional modules# howe,er# in the same chain could destroy the circuit boards. To a,oid this problem connect each board separately to a larger external bus that is si(ed to accommodate the total number of modules on all connected circuit boards. The connect the inputs and the load to those buses. %or this reason the larger boards are broken down into sections that must be indi, idually connected to the larger external bus. This allows the boards to contain as many modules as physically possible without gi,ing up board space to o,erly large traces to accommodate the higher currents. These circuit boards are not exact replicas of !ragan @lCaCic)s circuit board shown in Patrick ?. @elly)s Practical Guide to 'Free Energy' Devices. ' noticed that !ragan @lCaCic)s circuit board is single sided. Putting all the traces on the bottom side allows all the traces and solder Coints to easily be insulated after assembly by Cust coating the bottom and the Cumpers on the top of the board with lac.uer. $ince his board is fully populated# ' can)t tell if there are solder connections on the top side that would need to be insulated but ' doubt it. ExpressPCB does not ha,e a single sided option so ' chose to go for component density to get as many modules on a board as possible. That leads to top copper traces and solder Coints under the components. The top traces are why the boards with the solder mask are recommended. That still lea,es the solder Coints under the capacitors unDinsulated. 'f you want to get fanatical about it you could put spacers under the components to lift them off the circuit board and when assembly is complete# remo,e the spacers and insulate the top side solder points and capacitor leads also. ' Cust spray the top (diode leads and bottom with lac.uer. Potting compound may be a better option but ' ha,en)t tried it yet. The -iniBoard external connections are for 59 86= wire. That)s as large as could be fitted in the a,ailable space without gi,ing up any modules and# with the lower module count# should suffice. The

ProtoPro circuit board connections are for 54 86= wire. $o there will need to be a transition from the ele, ated plate and ground wires (minimum 0$6= E B86= to whiche,er si(e you use. They could be soldered together or mechanically clamped or crimped. 'n either case# insulate the connections from the air. &arger ele, ated plate and ground wires work better. &arge gauge insulated solid copper wires are usually specialty items in the ;.$. so use heat shrink tubing to insulate large diameter solid# bare wire. 'nsulated stranded wire is common and easy to ac.uire but ?es 8scanius emphasi(es using solid wire. ' ha,en)t tried stranded wire yet. 8ll of the boards ha,e two sets of connections per section. "ne set is for connecting the external components such as the ele, ated plate# ground plate# and load# and the other set is for making boardDtoD board connections to increase the module count. 6hen Coining a large number of modules the leads should be connected to a hea,ier gauge external bus bar to handle the larger current. Femember to insulate the connections after they are made. 8ll circuit board external connections are marked as follows> +P+ is the input from the ele, ated# insulated plate +=+ is the earth ground +++ is the !C positi,e side of the output +D+ is the !C negati,e side of the output Each circuit board may be populated as desired. 't is not a re.uirement to fully populate the boards because each module is connected to the connecting traces. &ikewise any one module may be isolated from the others if a faulty component is found after they are populated. *ou can deDsolder and remo,e the faulty module components to that one particular module and the remaining modules will be fully functional. 6here board space allows there are holes for standDoffs. +$m+ components> 'nput capacitors> G!iodes> "utput capacitors> +&g+ components> 'nput capacitors> G!iodes> "utput capacitors>
