Michelle Redzinski What is the environment like at BU? Also, how inclusive is the campus involving LGBTQ students? Cherone Simmons Does a student who went to a prestigious high school such as boston Latin school still have a fair chance as everyone else even though their gpa is lower Kimberly Santiago Cherone, I don't think college admissions take in consideration if you went to a prestigious high school or not. It's all about the student, not where they come from. Rep Kristin Ede Many admitted students have written essays about creating their own club or organization in high school and that is definitely something that will differentiate you from other applicants Rep Tina Thornton oops, sorry! Rep Zelshadai Solomon Hi Cherone! Kimberly answered it very well, it definitely has a lot to do with you as a person and your own accomplishments, not what school you came from. Charlotte Pak What do you like most about Boston as a city? (I can guess that the road system is what you like least ;) ) Samuel Mackey What kind of engineering courses do you offer? Dixie Ortiz Hi, I'm Dixie. I'm interested in this school, but I notice the tuition, which is daunting. How much does a student actually end up paying annually? Kimberly Santiago Samuel, this can really help you. http://www.bu.edu/eng/academics/find/ Charlotte Pak I've heard about the accelerated medicine program (guaranteed admission into medical school if requirements are met)...do you know anyone in that program, and if you do, do you know how hard it was to get in that program? Mubarak Olukotun Hello Rep Zelshadai Solomon Boston is a city made for college students. A statistic I hear is that one out of every five people walking down the street in Boston is actually a college student. There are lots of activities because you are in the city, and the opportunities you find academically are endless! Mubarak Olukotun Hello Suzanne McGoldrick I love Boston, I've been living there the past few years and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an urban University experience Suzanne McGoldrick I am interested in finding out more about a Public Health or Global Health Masters Program you offer Suzanne McGoldrick and any scholarships or grants for this as I really don't want to be in debt the rest of my life from grad school

Hi Kimberly! So when it comes to tuition, BU doe try to make sure every student has a good chance at affording the school. The financial aid package differ from student to student, but BU does offer both need based and merit based scholarships. For more information, here is a link that may help:http://www.bu.edu/finaid/ Mubarak Olukotun What are the usual GPA and SAT scores of BU students Rep Zelshadai Solomon Hi Suzanne! We do have a School of Public Health here at BU as well as a combined BS/MPH for undergrads . There is also need based and merit based aid for this grad school as well. For more information, this link may help:http://www.bu.edu/sph/ Rep Kathy Rousseau Hi Mubarak! The profile of admitted students, which includes SAT scores and GPA, can be found here: http://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/profile/ Rep Kristin Ede BU does offer full ride scholarships to students. One of my friends is on a full ride which she applied for on a whim. There are many other students who get financial aid from BU based on their FAFSA financial aid assitance. Rep Tina Thornton Definitely get involved on campus, it helps you branch out, find new interests and new friends! Charlotte Pak What kinds of clubs/organizations are there on campus? Kate Wagner What percentage of upperclassmen live on campus? Mubarak Olukotun Hello Kate Wagner Do you have club men's volleyball? Rep Zelshadai Solomon We have a lot of groups and clubs here at BU, over 500! There really is a place for everyone. We have groups ranging form Greek life to Skiing Club to the People Watching Society. Charlotte Pak Is there a Theatre program? Jacob Lemon How's the campus lifestyle? Mubarak Olukotun What is a likely letter? Rep Zelshadai Solomon Here's a website with a list of groups offered at BU:http://www.bu.edu/studentactivities/ Rep Zelshadai Solomon We do have a theatre program offered through the College of Fine Arts. For more information on the specifics of that school, here's a link: http://www.bu.edu/cfa/ Kimberly Santiago Why do school counselors have to send in School Profiles if the school is not taken into consideration when admitting a student? Charlotte Pak in order to see if you took advantage of higher level classes in your school Charlotte Pak and other opportunities in your school

Rep Zelshadai Solomon

Campus life depends on what your interests include, since we are a large school in the big city. But there's never a shortage of activities and finding something to do on and off campus! Rep Kristin Ede Kate, many uperclassmen live on campus due to BU's guaranteed housing for all 4 years. We also have a Club Men's Volleyball team. Here's a link with more information about it: http://www.bu.edu/fitrec/club/sports/volleyball-mens.shtml Rep Tina Thornton Charlotte is correct, the admissions team likes to learn as much about you and where you are coming from as possible. They want to see that you've challenged yourself as best you could at your school. Mubarak Olukotun I got this letter from Boston University it was a postcard invitation Mubarak Olukotun And it showed three kids with different stats Mubarak Olukotun Are you guys familiar with this letter? Caroline Castro hello, does BU offer any majors in engineering? and if it does, how well is its program? Rep Kristin Ede Hi Caroline! Here is a link with all of the specific programs in our College of Engineering: http://www.bu.edu/eng/academics/programs/ Caroline Castro thank you very much Melanie Ebeling Does BU look at the weighted GPA? Alyx Rittenhouse Hello, I am intersted in the Occupational Therapy program and was wondering what people usually major in before applying? Tina Thornton BU Admissions team will look at each student's application taking into consideration everything about them. They will look at your school profile and the classes that you've chosen to take. Here is some more information on the standards of freshman applicants:http://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/freshman/ albert leach How does BU handle different grading scales from high school? My school uses a 7 point scale. Does the admission office convert my grades to be the same as other schools? Rep Tina Thornton BU will look at your school profile along with your application to understand how your gpa was calculated. albert leach so if I have a percentage grade of 91 and my schools says this is a B, would I use 3.0 or 4.0 as a 10 point grade scale would use? albert leach we use percentages Andrew Brown What is the average gap of transfer students albert leach if looking at 4.0 scale for application

Andrew Brown Gpa Charlotte Pak I think it would still be 3.0 Charlotte Pak because my school has 7 point scale Charlotte Pak and has gpa system Charlotte Pak and any thing between 85 and 92 inclusive would be 3 points to your gpa albert leach Is Charlotte correct? Tina Rep Zelshadai Solomon Hi Andrew! Here is a helpful link with all of the information, including average GPAs, for applying as a transfer student:http://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/transfer/ Rep Tina Thornton I am not entirely sure how it would be handled, I believe you would report your GPA as your school give calculates it and Admissions will look at your school profile to understand fully about your GPA. You may also report a scaled score on a 4.0 scale, but Admissions will consider your school profile and how challenging your course were. albert leach Thanks, Is there a limit to how many AP Classes you can get credit for? Rep Tina Thornton Nope, you are able to get credit for all APs you score a 4 or 5.They may count towards your general requirements, you will be given college credit, but the AP class must apply towards a general requirement or a class for your degree to count towards your program. Most APs will help you out in some way. albert leach May I ask if a BU's version of a high school's profile is available to see? Charlotte Pak usu Rep Tina Thornton Meaning, if you take an AP literature course then decide to be a math major, you may get 4 college credits but it not count towards your degree program. From personal experience, all my AP classes counted towards my general requirements so I didn't have to take them at BU. Charlotte Pak usu the counselors submit hs profiles. Rep Zelshadai Solomon Here is a link with basic information on BU admissions, including GPA and SAT scores: http://www.bu.edu/admissions/ albert leach With so many colleges and universities in the Boston Area can you tell me how BU stands out? Charlotte Pak Geographically, BU has its own street. Charlotte Pak Other colleges are more mixed in with the city.

Rep Kristin Ede

So although there are many schools in the Boston area, we're very close to all that Boston has to offer. We have easy access to the T (our subway system) which takes many students downtown Boston and we 're across the Charles River from Cambridge. Even though we have access to all of Boston, our entire campus is on Commonwealth Ave., which allows us to have our own little community in the center of Boston. Rebecca Auer When can I start applying for admission to the fall 2015 term? Charlotte Pak I remember going to a Korean restaurant right next to BU. :) Sakdiah Muhamad How is the environmental or biomedical engineering program at this school. Rep Zelshadai Solomon We do have a pretty broad engineering school, with quite a few concentrations. Here is a link to the page for the College of Engineering, which can tell you more about their programs: http://www.bu.edu/eng/ Andrew Brown What would be the most desirable extracurricular activity ? Andrew Brown What is the most desirable extra activity Rep Ali Pylitt We have over 500 different clubs that you could join at BU! They definitely range, but I'm sure you could find something that meets your interests! Andrew Brown I meant for applying to bu Rep Ali Pylitt It's not really important the type of extracurricular activities you've been involved in - just that you're involved in something outside of academics!! Andrew Brown Does internships and study abroad count towards credits and or increase changes Andrew Brown Chances I meant. Rep Zelshadai Solomon It really depends on your program and field of study, but if they are through BU, they will very likely count towards graduation. Andrew Brown are their requires for certain majors Rep Tina Thornton What major(s) are you interested in Andrew? albert leach I sorry if this was asked and answered, I had to step away, what is the average accepted GPA unweighted and weighted? Charlotte Pak How diverse is BU? Andrew Brown Other then the general education requirements. Rep Zelshadai Solomon BU is extremely diverse! We have students from all over the country and the world, with students from nearly 100 countries!

Andrew Brown international relations Rep Tina Thornton Here is the website for the international relations program:http://www.bu.edu/ir/undergraduate/programs/ Rep Tina Thornton I hope that website helps with your questions! Rep Zelshadai Solomon Hi Albert, here's is the link again with all of the admissions information about BU, including SAT and GPA info: http://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/ albert leach Again sorry if this has been asked as well can you tell me the top three most competitive majors albert leach and could you tell me the transfer percentage? albert leach Thank you for all the time and answers Charlotte Pak What do you reps like most about BU? Rep Tina Thornton The three most popular schools for students to transfer into are the School of Management, College of Communications and the College of Arts and Sciences. Transfer students choose different majors in those colleges. Rep Ali Pylitt I love how hands-on most of the curriculum/specific classes are for undergrads! It gives you a great introduction into a specific major/future career and lets you know whether or not you want to continue pursuing that major. For example, I'm in Sargent studying Physical Therapy and I am currently taking gross anatomy with a cadaver lab. I thought I would hate it but I absolutely love it and it's very challenging, but I'm learning a lot of things that are applicable for my future career! Rep Ali Pylitt One of my friends was in the School of Education freshman year and there is a class called ED100 with an actual lecture portion and a "lab" portion, where the students go into a Boston (or suburbs) school once a week for an entire semester. My friend realized education wasn't for her anymore after that class, and she was able to change her major early on and will graduate on time! I have other friends who thought this lab experience solidified their passion for their majors, though! Rep Zelshadai Solomon My favorite thing about BU is its location in Boston. I'm from Atlanta, so coming to such a different city was an experience I was excited for! There is so much to do and explore here, from the Boston Commons to Faneuil Hall to North End, it's great to be able to live in the middle of such a busy city! Charlotte Pak OMG Atlanta and Boston are really different. I've been to both. Rep Kristin Ede There are so many great things about BU but some of my favorites are the location and the additional opportunities I've had. I'm a seniot and since freshman year, I've been able to explore all over Boston which is been incredible. I've also worked really closely with the Center for Career Development which has helped me find internships, edit my resume, and is currently helping me find a job! Rep Tina Thornton Transfer applications are just as competitive as freshman applicants. There are about 450 transfer students accepted each year. The transfer application considers current coursework and high school classes. The typical transfer accepted students have A-/B+ current grades.

Charlotte Pak Cool. Charlotte Pak For the longest time, I've always desired to return to Boston for a college edu. Charlotte Pak Does BU have a motto? Rep Ali Pylitt Yep, our motto is "Learning, Virtue, Piety" Rep Ali Pylitt http://www.bu.edu/today/2005/the-origin-of-bus-motto-learning-virtue-piety/ Charlotte Pak That's cool.
