A Native American guest speaker from the Moapa Band of Paiutes. 2nd grade
I would love to be able to get someone who is very knowledgeable about the native American culture to come in and speak to students. The speaker could show artifacts and answer questions. I think this would be great to open young students eyes up to all the different people the world is made up of.
During our unit on local jobs in the community, students can virtually explore the inside of a fire truck. After they explore the can color and label a picture of a fire truck to display on the class bulletin board.
As a class, we can take the tour of Ellis island where millions of immigrants made there first stop in America. I would incorporate this tour during our unit on how American is a melting pot of cultures. This site is text heavy, but we would go through it as a class so that I would be the one reading and explaining.

Field Trips 1. Explain which field trip you are most excited about.
I feel that I am most excited about the 1st grade trip to the Las Vegas National History Museum. I think it is wonderful that the museum has field trips for the different age groups. I would be very excited to see the museum with the children and watch them be on a learning safari. This is the trip from my list that I would have found to be the most excited to go on.
