Hebrews 4:15 (ESV)!

15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.! !

Hebrews 2:18 (NIV)!

18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

James 1:12-15 (ESV)!

12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, I am being tempted by God, for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)!

13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

! Our proclivity is to think that there are crowns without crosses, and that is a direct contradiction to scripture. In reality, it is the agony that creates the ecstasy of life. It is not what Jesus said on the cross that redeemed us, it was what he suffered.

It was in the absence of God that Adam and Eve were tested It was in the absence of God that the children of Israel were tested It was in the absence of God that Job was tested It was in the absence of God that Jesus was tested!

And it is in the absence of God that we will be tested too

Matthew 3:13-17!
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. 14 John would have prevented him, saying, I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me? 15 But Jesus answered him, Let it be so now, for thus it is tting for us to fulll all righteousness. Then he consented. 16 And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; 17 and behold, a voice from heaven said, THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, WITH WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED.

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

Luke 4:1-2, 14-15

Then Jesus, being FILLED with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil.

Phillipians 3:7-11
But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.
