The Reverend Robert E. Coine

Pastor, Saints Peter & Paul Parish
7906 Ocean Gateway
Easton, MD 21601

Dear Reverend Coine:

We were saddened to read your October 8, 2009 letter regarding the possible
closing of Saints Peter & Paul High School (SSPPHS). We will attend the informational
meeting on October 22, 2009 at 7:00 pm at the church in Easton.

To our family, SSPPHS is “A School of Excellence in the Catholic Tradition Since

1958” and is a spiritual family where God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit
continues His work through each student so they “may go forth and bear fruit.” As the
only Catholic secondary school on Maryland’s Eastern shore, SSPPHS provides the
religious foundation and moral armor our young adults need as they transition to college
and out into the world. We must ensure the school remains open for another 50 years.

We are blessed to have a team of dedicated, professional and selfless teachers and
administrators who nurture and care for each student so their unique gifts and talents can
come to fruition. SSPPHS not only provides a rigorous college preparatory curriculum in
the Roman Catholic tradition but numerous volunteer opportunities for community and
national outreach, diverse extra-curricular clubs/activities and wonderful athletic teams. All
of this coupled with a vibrant and active group of families consistently striving to enhance
the high school experience for our student body.

Our daughter, Erica (2012) a sophomore at SSPPHS and our daughter, Monica,
(2015) a seventh grader at SSPP, enrolled at SSPPES when they were in Kindergarten.
Both girls have flourished in a small, loving Christ-centered setting. In 2005, we moved to
Easton from Centreville, MD because we appreciated what the parish offered through
worship, elementary/secondary schools, youth groups, and other ministerial activities as
part of a growing parish. We envisioned Erica and Monica completing 13 years of
Catholic education commencing with a diploma from SSPPHS.

Testimonials from current students and alumni reiterate the same message:
SSPPHS is a small, safe and loving Catholic school where a relationship with God,
through prayer, is treasured. Teachers and staff are never too busy to help a student and
serve as positive role models. Graduating seniors are prepared for college and the world
beyond.

We believe the lessons taught within the halls of SSPPHS are priceless. Please
work with us to keep SSPPHS open for another 50 years and the light of Christ shining
brightly from Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Sincerely,

Daniel & Patricia Wiles
