Methods used to conduct this audit involved an onsite visit to Commerce Bank on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 3:00pm in South City St. Louis, Missouri where Fontbonne Consultant Morgan Tennell hand distributed 10 sealed survey packets to eight employees and two managers. After 30 minutes, all employees and managers placed their surveys in a large envelope that was collected and again sealed by Fontbonnes Consultant to ensure confidentiality. Survey instruments for the Communication Audit are rooted in the work of Gerald Goldhaber, which reveals, Communication Audit has been used extensively in research and consultingand its advantages are well documented (Goldhaber & Rogers, 1979, p.464) The survey used for this Audit was Organizational Outcomes and consisted of nine questions using a Likert Scale. The questions used determined the degrees to which employees are satisfied with working in their organization (see Exhibit A). The second portion of the survey consisted of two open-ended questions in which respondents stated thoughts external to the structured survey questions (see Exhibit B). Survey results were calculated by Fontbonne University Consultant Morgan Tennell using ratio analysis (Simple Psychology, 2008) and content analysis for the open-ended questions. Results follow.
