FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Delete Blood Cancer Helps Chase Foley Search for Life-Saving Donor Bone Marrow

Donor Drive to be Held May 31 in Watertown, New York

Watertown, NY, April 29, 2014: Two-year-old Chase Foley has been a fighter since the day he was born. Diagnosed at 4 weeks with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), he has already undergone more medical procedures than the average adult endures in a lifetime. After weeks of blood transfusions and chemotherapy, for which the Foley family relocated from Watertown to Albany, Chases leukemia went into remission. Chase was able to live a normal life for the next two years with the support of his family and Albanys Ronald McDonald House, until a recent routine checkup at the local clinic uncovered devastating news. Chase has officially relapsed and will soon need to restart treatment. However, this time around, Chases only real hope for survival is to receive a bone marrow transplant. Like Chase, 70 percent patients in need of a bone marrow transplant wont find a match within their families and must search for an unrelated donor, yet less than half will find a match and receive their life-saving transplant. Chases family and friends have teamed up with Delete Blood Cancer in an effort to find potential bone marrow donors for Chase and the thousands of other patients who are desperately searching for a match. The donor drive in Chases honor will be held on Saturday, May 31 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bruce M. Wright Memorial Conference Center at 1291 Faichney Drive in Watertown, NY. Registering is easy and consists of swabbing the inside of the mouth and filling out a registration form. I lost my mother to leukemia when I was 14, stated Katharina Harf, Co-Founder of Delete Blood Cancer, and I have made it my mission to recruit more donors so that other families dont have to go through the pain we did. We need your help so we can save more lives. Anyone who cannot attend the drive can register online at DeleteBloodCancer.org.
