It gives definitions about legal terms, offers history on past legislations, explores the advantages and disadvantages of legalizing immigrants and gives possible alternatives. The website is made up of different contributors who give input about different issues. This is a very helpful website that allows you to see a broader picture. Morales, Nikoleta. It focuses on the education piece of immigrant children and the importance they play in our communities. It also displays pictures of important events revolving around the bill that many are rooting for and others are shooting down. These pictures can be used as visual aids for the research paper. It allows you to explore beyond your main ideas and provides with important related information.

This is a short excerpt taken out of the Authors book in which he discusses the difference between the Speech Community and Discourse Community. He doesnt think that others have given the a proper definition of what is considered a Discourse Community and goes on to list the 6 characteristics that he considers important. This short reading explained and gave examples of who has authority in the work place; how your identity can be impacted by the way you view yourself and the importance of knowing what the work place requires in terms of writing. She allowed me to ask her questions about her profession and gave me literature that I could use to submit along with my paper. She offered suggestions and served as an audience. Samuelson, Silvia. She allowed me to observe her in action and offered to have me shadow her. This was very helpful because it gave me a good understanding of what they role is. Johns, Ann M. The information was good but I didnt find it useful for myself.

A film that not only shows the accomplishments of the debate team but also develops an understanding of the struggles that the African American community faced in Texas at the time. The director really focuses on showing real life events that make this film even stronger. Thisa good source that can be used to inspire or call to action.

This film shows the life of a man who after fleeing from the south after losing his family becomes the butler of the white house, serving 8 presidents. We see the impact American society has over him and his family. It demonstrates the difference in attitude that existed

at the time between Americans and even between the presidents. This is a great source to gather information on the presidents and other real life events that happened during that time.

The book is based on the lives of White and African American women living in the Jackson Mississippi during the 1960s. It shows the differences that exited during that time and the struggles they overcame. It included historical events such as; The March on Washington and gave explanation on the impact it had on them. It was a helpful source to understand what it was like to work in the South for a white family.

It talks about the struggles that both countries face against each other and what we can do to change it. It talks about America and the beauty of it. This reading is about New York and its crime rate. It talks about a method that was implemented to reduce crime and the outcome of it. Barajas 10 This is an anti-racist reading about Colleges that are not tolerant is this unjust behavior against their students. This is a reading that can be used to support or be used as evidence when writing about what schools are doing to support the different cultures in their schools. Luther king, Martin JR. I have a Dream. Readings for Revolutionary Writings (2013):189-192. Print. This is the famous speech given by Dr. King during The March on Washington. In it he talks about his dreams of having a racist-free country in which no one is judged by the color of their skin. This source is very helpful. It is an easy read and self-explanatory. It can be used wen writing about segregation. Mukherjee, Bharati. Two Ways to Belong in America. Readings for Revolutionary Writings (2013) 279 -286. Print. The story of two women who come to America from India and the ways in which their lives differentiate from one another based in their life styles. It focuses on the different cultures they adopted and their beliefs. Regardless of where they come from and being sisters, their lives change dramatically in different ways. Barajas 11 A story written by an anonymous author who talks about what poverty is like for her. She describes it in a way that either she is going through it or knows very well what is poverty. She describes poverty in a way that makes you realize how lucky you are to have a place to live and food on the table. This reading can be used to explore poverty. Plato. Allegory of the Cave. Reality versus Segment of Reality Plato, The Republic, Book VII, n. d: 514 530. Print. Written by a Greek Philosopher who focused on what the true meaning of what being good is. The reading is written as a conversation with another person who helps Plato bounce off ideas. I think the idea behind it is good but personally I found it hard to read and comprehend. An essay written to let civilians know that it is ok for them revel against government rules that they dont agree with. He speaks of himself and what he has done revel. I did not find this source helpful.

The great film deals with the lives of African American maids working for white families in Jackson Mississippi. It shares stories from the perspective of both sides and what they went through. The film also focuses on historical events that changed history and laws

that separated both races. This source gives you a good view of what times where like in the 1960s. Its a dreat movie that can help you explore into the root of segregation.

A reading that attempts to explain what how communism works and the theory underlying the movement. It explains the class struggles and the exploitation of one to the other. It continues to discuss what constructs the different classes that exist and goes on to say what they each of them do that makes them a part of a certain class. This is a good source to use when investigating about the different social classes that exist. DuBois, W.E.B. Of Our Spiritual Strivings. (1903). Print.

In Of Our Spiritual Strivings, the two main messages that WEB DuBois has to share are of the dangers of double-consciousness and the idea that a Veil exists between White America and African America. He realizes that the veil keeps people from seeing reality.

Barajas 13 I personally dont thing I would use this source again. The reading is a bit difficult ot understand. Merriweather Hunn, Lisa R. Talmadge C. Guy and Elaine Manglitz. Who Can Speak For Whom. (2006) 244-249. Print. This reading focuses on the differences that continued to exist in the 20th century. Its the story of a woman who gives speeches about different subjects and finds herself not being allowed to speak on a situation because it deals with people of other ethnicities. The idea of this short readings is to let people know that color and culture is still an issue. We should all be allowed to speak about any subject to any group regardless if it deals with a different race. This is reading as an eye opener and would consider using it again.

This book talks about writing methods that make your writing even stringer. It gives feedback and advice on things you can add to make your writing sound much better. Mary Pipher attempts to help you use your authentic voice to make a difference by using your own experiences and applying them in your writing. I really enjoyed the book and found it very helpful. This source was very helpful and can definitely use it in the future.

Barajas 15 This book gives a variety of information about writing tools of different kinds. It gives basic rules about writing formats that must applied in your writing. This was a book I started to read for my free reading assignment. Although I didnt finish it I, I enjoyed what I read. Its a story of a Mexican American girl and her family and what their lives are like. The book was an easy read that is written in third person. James Meredith was the first African American man who had been accepted to the University of Mississippi. The university was not aware of his race when he applied and the first day of school he was denied access into the school.
