1. What is the actual purpose of the institution? 2. What are the goals of the attendees? 3. What does everyone envision for the course they opt? Developing strong Vision and Mission statements can help stakeholders to have such a common understanding. Vision: A Vision emphasizes the long term goal of the college/ department. M ission: The Mission elaborates the way in which the long goal of the college/ department is achieved. Dr afting the Vision statement: The staff members are recognized as a common direction of growth, to inspire them to be better. An effective Vision also announces to parents and students where we are heading and why they should take the course with us. A common understanding of the destination allows all stakeholders to align their improvement efforts. Dr afting the M ission statement: After presenting the draft to the stakeholders, time is given to discuss their opinion of them with one another, and then lead a discussion with the entire team. Are the statements too vague, or are they specific enough? Are they too long or too short? Do the statements express an idea or a hope for the future? Are they too unambitious? Do they contain adjectives or goals that are more appropriate for a mission statement? Do they clarify a direction for the college and for its improvement efforts? The team members get the faculty to articulate what it is they truly want from their students and college. Graduation or job attainment is the bare minimum of what most educators hope for their students. The stakeholders record the responses, ideas and key terms and phrases that come up during group discussions. At the end of the process, the team transforms the key concepts and phrases into Vision and Mission statement. Next, each department receives a copy of the draft version to review, discuss, edit and return to the stakeholders, which then makes appropriate adjustments to the statement. Thus the main objective of defining Mission and Vision is to prepare students to live in and contribute to a changing world and engage in active, lifelong learning.

(Describe the process that periodically documents and demonstrates that the PEOs are based on the needs of the programmes various stakeholders. )

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering clearly understand two way communications between program management and stakeholders. Meeting with stakeholder not only specify the Program Educational Objectives, but also includes the process to be adopted to reach the Mission of the Department. Process specified here is in broad sense, It means it also involves step by step procedure to assess and evaluate the PEOs. In order to make our program successfull, we implement all possible processes that are doable and measureable. We adapt S.M.A.R.T concept introduced in November 1981 issue of Management Review by George T. Doran. S Specific M Meaningful, Motivational, Manageable, Measureable A Attainable R Relevant T - Timely We conduct Periodic Meetings and enriched our PEOs that are required to meet stakeholders needs. Main focus of the meetings is for redefining / refining PEOs based on short and long term needs. PEOs are defined to have direct / indirect impact to the society. We hereby include the latest PEOs agreed by stakeholders from the last meeting.

Assessment and Evaluation of PEOs:

The process employed to assess the PEOs, the way they are articulated and improved as a continuous activity needs to be elaborated. As a part of evaluating PEOs, we collect necessary and adequate feedbacks from right stakeholders like Industry, Students, Alumni etc as often as needed. In order to have a successful assessment, we do collect different types of feedback from different stakeholders based on the nature of expectations. Exit Feedback from Graduating Students Feedback from Parents Feedback from Industry where our students are placed Periodic Alumni Feedback The main objective of assessment is to evaluate and improve the program outcomes (POs), finally to meet PEOs and Mission of the Department. Assessment in an ongoing cycle of measurement of outcomes, results and subsequent improvement of the Educational program. It focus particular on improving students learning and the assessment involves in measuring the students learning as detailed below. For understanding the program and institution goals the program outcomes (POs), Program specific program outcomes (PSPOs) and program educational outcome (PEOs) are identified and defined. 1. The faculty members gather information based on various feedbacks whether students have achieved the program outcomes. This requires various assessments methods like students feedback ,parents meeting,

https://enba.nbaind.org/SARTemplates/SARUGTireIITemplatePrint.aspx...

Performance in all exams, Class committee meeting etc 2. The review of the POs, PSPOs and PEOs are done based on the assessment and evaluation. The following questionnaire were framed for review of the outcomes and discussed in the Academic review committee meeting: Are the program outcomes achieved and students study what is intended to the program? Do the evaluations indicate room for improvement? Is the assessment / evaluation procedure meets the objective? The program outcome may be improved after assessment and evaluation, other than making overall improvements making specific improvements might be helpful.

1.2.5 Establish consistency of the PEOs with the Mission of the institute (5)

Institute Marks : 5.00

(Describe how the Programme Educational Objectives are consistent with the Mission of the department.)

Academic review committee is responsible for the attainment of PEOs based on the outcomes. While redefining the PEOs, the committee will consider the expected level of attainment of each PEOs discussed. As a part of the process, the committee will document the result analysis and the supporting documents pertaining for the attainment of PEOs.

Validation of the consistency of PEOs with the Mission of the Department

The results of the assessment process are regularly applied to the improvement of the program. The stake holders (Faculty, Students, Alumni, and Industry) of the department are engaged in the following manner in PEO assessment activities. FACULTY Prior to the start of an UG Course, every faculty is advised to review the: Course objectives and outcomes form of his/her course in order to familiarize themselves with the expected outcomes for the course and how these specific course outcomes relate to the overall program outcomes Past course performance form of his/her course in order to familiarize themselves with the performance of the course in prior offerings and in order to identify any points of weakness that may require additional emphasis During the offering of an under graduate course, every faculty is asked to: Collect samples of student works (homework and exam solutions, laboratory and project reports) on a regular basis Upload the information pertaining to the course into moodle server Complete and file an evaluation of student performance in order to comment on the overall course performance towards meeting its objectives and specific outcomes Encourage students to participate in the End-of-Course surveys STUDENTS The department engages its students and collects their feedback for accreditation purposes through End-ofCourse surveys The student surveys collect student input on course material, course organization and instruction Besides asking students questions about the quality of a course and its instruction, the surveys also assess, for each course, the main topics that students are expected to have been exposed to during the course Students are asked to rate, on a scale from poor to excellent, whether that feel they have had an opportunity to learn the course outcomes The student input is then summarized and tracked in: Individual reports on course performance for each course offering Semester reports on course performance during the semester Monthly reports on department performance Yearly reports on department performance The department also collects student feedback through exit surveys administered to graduating seniors. AL UM NI and I NDUSTRY The department discuss with certain alumni and industries also for assessing the achievement of PEOs. SAVING SAM PL ES OF STUDENT WORK S Each course is required to save samples of student laboratory reports, project reports, and exam paper typically from poor to good quality. However, since this is the first time of accreditation we have not reviewed the PEOs in vision of redefining it.
