BLADES
CHARACTERISTICS
o

ADVANTAGES

o o

o o o

Blades: 39m for G80-2.0 MW, 42,5m for G87-2.0 MW, 44m for G90-2.0 MW and 47,5m for G97-2.0 MW State-of-the-art manufacturing process: manufactured from organic matrix composite material, with carbon or glassfiber reinforcement Lightining protection system The structure of each blade consists of two shells glued to a spar or internal beams Innovative airfoil for new G97 that minimizes noise

Lighter blades maintaining stiffness which reduces loads transmitted to the entire system

High energy production and minimum noise level thanks to optimized airfoils

The blade is designed to fulfill two basic functions: structure and aerodynamics

Easier maintenance

Technological highlights

DRIVE TRAIN
CHARACTERISTICS
o o o o o Main shaft supported on two bearings 3-stage gearbox with 2 parallel shafts and one planetary stage. High-speed shaft connected to the generator by means of a flexible coupling with a torque limiter system Torque arms are used to attach the gear box to the frame by means of shock absorbers The gearbox has a lubrication system which permits attaining a degree of oil purity of up to 3m, which reduces the potential number of malfunctions. o o o o

ADVANTAGES

Main shaft design prevents any load except the torque from being transmitted to the gear box, which minimizes the occurrence of any problems with this component. Gear box is allowed to be disassembled without the need to take apart the main shaft. Flexible coupling prevents overloading the transmission chain. Thanks to the modular design of the power train, the weight of the gear box is borne by the main shaft, while the shock absorbers joined to the frame react to any torque, preventing the gear box from rotating and any undesired charges on the gear box.

Technological highlights

ACTIVE YAW
CHARACTERISTICS
o 4 electrical motors operated by WT controller based on information received from the anemometers mounted on top of the nacelle The yaw is active with hydraulic brake clamp that can be regulated gradually The system is composed of 5 clamps avoid fatigues and failures in the Yaw system. The Gamesa Active Yaw system is submitted to accelerated lifetime test cycles and aging tests on the Gamesa UPB testing bench. o

ADVANTAGES
Combined activation of friction bearing and retention clamps prevents fatigue and possible damage to the ring. The ring is divided into 6 sectors, in order to make it easier to repair any possible tooth damage. HALT tests ensure and improve the reliability of this component, validating its correct design and providing feedback on the virtual models in order to redesign them, incorporating future improvements.

Technological highlights

PITCH SYSTEM
CHARACTERISTICS
o o Independent hydraulic actuators for each blade that provide a rotational capacity between -5 and 90 The pitch system is activated during the entire time the wind turbine operates
o When the wind speed is below the rated speed, the pitch angle will be selected in order to maximize the electrical power obtained for each wind speed. When the wind speed is above the rate speed, the pitch angle will be the one that provides the machine's rated power.

ADVANTAGES
o o Having an independent pitch on each blade provides redundancy for the aerodynamic brake system. The hydraulic system has an accumulator system that allows the blades to be turned to their feathered position, in case of an emergency. The hydraulic system provides greater activation speed than other types of systems. Due to the hydraulic accumulator system, no batteries are required for operation, which increases reliability during emergency situations.

Technological highlights

ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS
CHARACTERISTICS
o The generator is a double-fed, 4-pole variety with a wound rotor and slip rings. It is highly efficient and cooled by and air-air system. The transformer is a three-phase, dry encapsulated model, with different output voltage options and different apparent power ranges. It has been specially designed for wind energy applications. The control system allows the system to work at variable speeds, using the rotor intensity frequency control. o

ADVANTAGES
Optimal operation for any wind speed, maximizing the production and minimizing loads and noise, thanks to the variable speed operation Active and reactive power control Synchronous behavior with regards to the grid. The generator is protected from short-circuits and overloads. The temperature is also continuously monitored by sensors The transformer's location in the nacelle prevents electrical loss due to the reduced length of the low voltage cables, and it also reduces the visual impact.
