The Texas System of Care hosts statewide awareness ceremonies to recognize Childrens Mental Health Awareness Week
Health care organizations across Texas collaborate to raise awareness for childrens mental health services
AUSTIN,TEXAS, May 1,2014 The Texas System of Care, a statewide approach to improving mental health access and services to children, youth and families, is partnering with multiple mental health care organizations across Texas to invite the public to participate in regional ceremonies in recognition of Childrens Mental Health Awareness Week, May 5-9. This years theme, Stand Up and Soar, has incorporates both the awareness walks, kite flying ceremonies and other special events. Participants are encouraged to wear green clothing, the designated color for mental health. Schools across Texas have also participated in a kite drawing contest to kick off this years events. System of care is about engaging communities, said Sherri Hammack, the project director for Texas System of Care. Through this years Childrens Mental Health Awareness day efforts, weve remained consistent with our core values, engaging youths, families and the community. We invite everyone to stand up and soar for childrens mental health, especially when one in five children and youth have a diagnosable mental health need. This year Bluebonnet Trails Community Services, Williamson County Juvenile Services, Georgetown Behavioral Health Institute and other local mental health organizations will host a booth at the Dell Diamond promoting information on mental health and wellness. They will give out green ribbons to those attending the game. In addition, new kites will be collected to donate to local childrens charities.

Bluebonnet trails will present a special message on the field prior to the start of the game.
