TO ALL PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND SCHOOLTEACHERS

Island Literary Awards Deadline March 7

The deadline for entries to the Island Literary Awards is fast approaching.

The ILAs will take place on April 27, 2008 at The Guild in Charlottetown. PEI Lt.
Governor Barbara Hagerman will open the event; CBC Mainstreet host Matt Rainnie
and Island comedian Patrick Ledwell will reprise their roles as emcees extraordinaire;
and there will be entertaining readings from the best of Island writers.

The Island Literary Awards have two categories especially for young people; the
Aliant Creative Writing Awards for Young People and the Department of Education
Young Writer’s Award. There are no entry fees for either of these two categories. Of
course, older students are welcome to submit work to any of the other categories,
which include Creative Nonfiction, Poetry, Children’s Literature and Short Story;
however, there will be a $15 entry fee for submissions to these categories.
