DESCRIPTION:
ALKA-KLEEN - Alkaline cleaner is a unique blend of alkaline compounds and
surfactants. ALKA-KLEEN specifically remoes mild oils! dra"ing compounds!
preseratie oils! and soil from steel surfaces! including #eat-treated fasteners by
immersion or by spray met#od. $#is cleaner float soils so t#at t#ey can be skimmed
from t#e surface and s#ould be used "it# an oerflo" "eir for best results. ALKA-
KLEEN can be used in #ard "ater areas.

DIRECTION FOR USE
$ank s#ould be cleaned before filling - up "it# clean "ater. ALKA-KLEEN is slo"ly
added to t#e tank "it# constant agitation. (Do not add cleaner rapidly or iolently as
spluttering can occur.) (ontinue mi2ing until #omogenous solution is ac#ieed. /aise
temperature to operating range t#en c#eck concentration by prescribed control met#od
and make ad3ustments if necessary.
ALKA-KLEEN CONTROL PROCEDURE:

1. 4sing a pipette! transfer + ml. of ALKA-KLEEN solution into a flask.
5. Add 0 drops of p#enolp#t#alein indicator.
.. $itrate "it# ,.1N 65780 until sample c#anges from red to colourless.
0. Eac# one (1) ml. equals 5 g-liter concentration. 6ence! t#e factor 5., "ill be
employed and t#e calculation of concentration in grams per litre "ill be9
(oncentration (g-liter) : 5 2 ml. of ,.1N 65780 consumed
$#e millilitre of ,.1N 65780 is recorded as free alkalinity. Anot#er c#eck on t#e
condition of t#e bat# is total alkalinity. $#e control procedure for total alkalinity is t#e
same "it# free alkalinity e2cept t#e indicator is met#yl orange. $otal alkalinity is t#e
direct measure of t#e amount of contamination of t#e bat#.
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TOTAL ALKALINITY AND FREE ALKALINITY
$otal alkalinity - free alkalinity ratio s#ould be maintained less t#an t"o (5) at all times.
