annual Celebraton of Business Excel- lence at Island Park Retrement Commu- nity last Saturday. There were a variety of business own- ers in atendance, including the Wark- worth Journals publisher and editor, Warren Wozniewski. Despite being nominated in four diferent categories, The Journal wasnt among the award winners at the sold- out gala, which included several local dignitaries, such as Northumberland MPP Rob Milligan, Trent Hills mayor Hec Macmillan and councillors Robert (Bob) Crate, Kim MacNeil, Meirion Jones and William (Bill) Thompson. Through this event, which has be- come the premiere business event of the year, we recognize the integrity, creatvity and dedicaton that contrib- utes to a successful business, Chamber president Jef Hamilton told fnalists in the various business categories. You are the reason why we contnue to be inspired and look forward to a great future for years to come in Trent Hills. Mr. Wozniewski, who resurrected the beloved Warkworth Journal last Decem- ber and has made it available in print and on social media (Twiter), wasnt disappointed in coming home empty- handed. In fact, he said he was grateful just to be among the fnalists for an award because, quite frankly, I wasnt expectng The Journal to be nominated for a damn thing! Hell, Im only doing this as a part-tme gig out of the base- ment of my mothers home. So any form of accolade or recogniton is a bonus and is greatly appreciated. The 38-year-old Mr. Wozniewski, who is single and not currently in a relaton- ship, works full-tme as a sales associate at The Source electronics store in the Belleville Mall. He says he started re-publishing the defunct Journal last December simply because he enjoys journalism and felt there was a need for Warkworth to have its own high-quality newspaper again. We lost a litle bit of our towns iden- tty when (The Journal) folded. I dont care what you say, small-town news maters, Mr. Wozniewski contn- ued. And in its prime especially during the period when it was owned by the Edwards family no one covered small-town news beter than Bill and Blaine Edwards of the Warkworth Jour- nal. I want to carry on the Edwards family traditon for journalism excellence. Its a tough act to follow, but thats what Im striving for with this venture. Mr. Wozniewski says The Journal currently has 16 subscribers and 130 followers on Twiter (@wworthjournal) Among the categories in which The Journal was nominated included The Innovatve Business Award, The Excel- lence In Business Award (for companies with two employees or fewer), The Pride and Progress Award and The Emerging Entrepreneur Award. Meanwhile, The Journal ofers con- gratulatons to Our Lucky Stars Caf and Cofee Roasters of Warkworth, which won the Pride and Progress Award (sponsored by Trent Hills Community Development Ofce). The Excellence In Business Award (sponsored by the Trent Hills Independ- ent) was won by chef Tina Morrey of On The Side Gourmet Food Inc. from Wark- worth.

Mr. Wozniewski, who resurrected the beloved Journal last December, was nominated in four diferent categories at the recent Chamber of Commerce Awards. Unfortunately, he came home empty-handed (but he did receive a nice gif bag, which was sponsored by Sharpes Food Market). Meanwhile, Our Lucky Stars Caf and Cofee Roasters of Warkworth (right photo) won the Pride and Progress Award. Despite four nominations, The Warkworth Journal is shut out at the annual celebration of business excellence
