Abstract: In this paper, we analysed the dielectric properties behaviour of fluid
impregnated pressboard including relative permittivity, tan delta and imaginary part of the
complex relative permittivity (loss part) over frequency range of 1 mHz 5 kHz. We
measured dielectric properties of pressboard impregnated in mineral oil and pressboard
impregnated in synthetic ester. The experiment was done at three temperatures, 25C,
60C and 90C.

1.2 Activation Energy and Master Curve
Table 1 show activation energy for fluid
impregnated pressboard to create master curve of
tan delta in Figure 2. Using the master curve, we
can calculate the dielectric properties at different
frequency and temperature easily. This might be
useful for design practice.

2 CONCLUSIONS
a) Cellulose based pressboard impregnated in
different fluid has different dielectric
characteristic and sensitivity toward
temperature. It depends on the fluid type.
b) For same type of FIB, the shift in frequency
for tan delta, permittivity, dielectric loss with
temperature depend on the same activation
energy value (it has the same sensitivity to
temperature.)
