Actives / Instruction:
What will the instructor do?

Provide illustrations on hydrology
Explain the rapid scale. Two dimensional
displays.

Provide an exhibit (three dimensional)
Raft, paddles, safety gear and clothing.

Set up the projector beforehand with a
flash drive to show a video of white
water rafting.
What will the participants do?

Have both classes in one class room. The
students when be set up in a semi-circle
with their eyes focused at the front of
the class room. And the rest of the
students will be in their seats.
Students will be formed in a circle around
a raft. All gear needed shall be lined out
and students will have an opportunity to
have a hands on experience with our
systems.

The class will form back up in the class
room and sit comfortably to watch a
white water slide that I put together.

Brief Description of Activity: Bring the class together; give a simple class on what to expect on their
whitewater rafting trip.
Time requirements: the class should take no longer than45 minuets to an hour and a half; this is based
on skill levels of participants and the willingness of students to learn and and the excitement I can help
install.
Hydrology- 15 mins
Raft and paddle components- 10 to 20 minutes
What to wear for a day on the river at least 15 mins
A lot of the time requirements will be determined on the class involvement and questions the students
ask.
Resources: information gathered from raft guides, and gear signed out from the gear room.
1. Raft x 1
2. 5 x paddles
3. Life vests
4. 2 x throw bags
5. 2 x helmets
6. 2 x pumps
Preparation: 30 minutes before the schedule class time, I will have all gear at the school and set up
outside on the lawn, also I will have fellow ORL student with me to help set up the site and watch the
gear while I am in the class giving my introductions.
Safety considerations: class room and outside involvement. I will have the students follow their
teachers guide lines for moving safely to the raft site. Tripping could be a hazard if not watched. Also
when handling the paddle I will explain what the T-grip can do to someone if it is not watched. A safety
talk will be given as will before moving and equipment gets used.
Learning Outcomes.

Im hopping by the end of this instruction that I should be able to go up to any student and ask them
