GUIDANCE QUESTIONS FOR FASHION CONSTRUCTED IMAGE

Please find below a set of questions that will help structure your assessment and your feedback in a concise and
constructive manner.

Concept
Has you and your fellow student been able to successfully generate a concept?
Is the final visual work informed by critical debates or critical theory?
Do you think the concept is developed and personalised enough or does it seem too generic? How and
Why?

Research
How much was the initial idea underpinned by research?
How much research was self-initiated (references not given in lectures or seminars by tutors)?
Has the group used contemporary cultural ideas as a source of inspiration?
How much and of what quality was the research used by your group?
How much did your group use research on a consistent level throughout the unit?
Could the research have been more diverse and more in-depth?
How did your group refine his/her ideas and was this informed through his/her research process?
How creative has the research been?

Photographic process
How did your fellow students develop and progress the group ideas?
What was the group strategy and how useful was it?
What process of practical experimentation did your group apply to improve your initial test images?
How well do you think your group has applied knowledge learnt from the practical workshops into the
development of his/her work?
How successful are your groups visual skills? (e.g. the sharpness of the final print, the lighting, camera
position, depth of field, colour management etc)
Could the visual experimentation be pushed to give the work more meaning? Please give an example
(e.g. experimenting with different camera positions, lighting or weather conditions)
What is the level of the groups technical skills, in production and post production?
Do you think the student has selected appropriate technical, production processes and techniques for
their work?
How has the group fully understood the relationship between narrative, genre, audience and the fashion
series?
Has an understanding of narrative devices and symbolism been developed throughout the project?
