The document describes the Optical Bearing Device (OBD) Model SR02-01, which allows users to take fast and accurate optical bearing observations. It has various optical sighting devices that can be easily exchanged. It receives heading data from a ship's gyrocompass and transmits true and relative bearing observations to navigation equipment via serial data. Up to 99 bearing observations can be stored. It is designed for one-handed control with three buttons and has various display and setup options.

General Description: With the SR02-01 Optical Bearing Device (OBD) you can make fast and accurate Bearing Observations - both True and Relative.
Various optical devices are available for fast and accurate Target Acquisition. The optical sighting devices can easily be exchanged in the field.
The SR02-01 unit receives Heading Information from the ships gyro compass and transmits the resulting Relative and True Bearing Observations to other navigation equipment as serial data (NMEA output).
Up to 99 bearing observations can be stored and reviewed at any time by scrolling the display.
However the bearing observations are also transmitted to external navigation or weapon systems.
Figure 1 SR02-01 OBD Typical Application: Accurate Optical X-Bearing observations for Position Fixes. Making quick Optical Bearing observations for "on the run" navigation decisions. Optical Target Tracking. Interfacing to Navigation systems and Weapon systems Optical Bearing Line for the Radar Display.
Optics: Various optic sighting devices can easily be attached to the SR02-01. The optic assembly can be tilted allowing the user to track the target even when the ship moves.
Red-Dot 1X (no magnification) sighting scope different models are available.
Click-Stop: A special mechanical Click-Stop function is implemented for easily finding +/-45 deg and +/-90 deg bearing. You can feel and hear these bearing angles. LCD Display: The LCD display is a graphical green monochrome screen. Various Font sizes are used depending on the display mode. Below are some Display Examples. (T = True Bearing, R = Relative Bearing).
Mark List: Each time the Shoot-Button is pressed - a Bearing is marked. Each Bearing is stored as Relative and True and given Mark-ID (M00 M99) and Time-Stamp (in seconds relative to M00). This creates a Mark-List with a maximum of 100 different entries. See below for a typical Mark List entry Mark ID No 12, taken 203 seconds after Mark ID No. 0 (M00).
It is possible to navigate though the Mark List by using the Up-Button and the Down-Button. To leave the Mark List press the Up- Button and Down-Button simultaneous Control Buttons: The SR02-01 is designed for One- Hand-Control.
Three control buttons are mounted on the main Control Grip and placed so that they can be controlled with the same hand that is used for maneuvering and positioning the sighting optics.
The Shoot-Button is used for "Sample-and-hold of bearing. It is also used as Enter/Selector/Execution button in the menu.
Up-Button is used to increase the Display Brilliance =increase the LCD display backlight.
It is also used for navigating Up in the menu.
Down-Button is used to decrease Display Brilliance =decrease the LCD display backlight.
It is also used for navigating Down in the menu.
By pressing Up-Button and Down- Button simultaneous, the user will enter or leave the set-up and control menu. T120.8 T 120.8 R 325.5 M12 T 120.8 S:203 R 340.5 Menu Main =>Display Option LCD Adjustment Center Line calibra. Optical Bearing Device (OBD) Model SR02-01
