COMMUNITY SERVICE:
Wednesday the Department took part in the monthly TRIAD meeting. TRIAD is law enforcement and seniors coming together to help reduce criminal victimization of the elderly. This month's presenter was Detective Scott Holman and his canine partner Raja. The TRIAD group had donated $250 to the K-9 program which helped in obtaining Raja. The seniors were full of questions and very impressed with the demonstration. Here are a couple of photos of Scott and canine Raja during the presentation.
MISCELLANEOUS:
The department's radar speed trailer has been deployed for the season and you will find "Speedy", as fondly named by departmental staff, out and about in the community. The radar trailer is used in areas that have been identified to have historical speeding issues. Patrol staff is encouraged to work in conjunction with the trailer in those higher profile areas to reduce speeding through warnings and or tickets.

We were notified Wednesday during the testing of our early warning sirens that the old water tower site siren was not functioning. DSC Communications has been called and they are expected to look at this by Friday of this week.
TRAINING:
Last week Administrative Secretary Shannon Nelson attended training at the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) in St. Paul on supplemental reporting. The information learned will be useful in entering data utilized in Uniform Crime Reporting.
This will help us to properly code our cases so that our crime statistics are more accurate than in the past. This was an identified problem area in our law enforcement study.
