Death
Balder had dreams about his death, which caused his mother, Frigg, to extract
an oath from every object on earth not to harm her son. And all agreed that they
will not harm Balder and after the gods said that they still practiced throwing
knives and shooting arrows at him. Then Loki, the trickster god, disguised
himself and asked Frigg if there was anything that could harm Balder and she
told him about the mistletoe. Loki then quickly gathered some of the weed and
made a dart out of it and at that same time the other gods were playing a game
with Balder were they were attempting to strike him and hurt him but he cant be
harmed with anything supposedly. Loki gave the dart of mistletoe to Balders
blind brother, Hodr, so that he could also participate. Loki helped Hodr launch
the dart into Balders chest so Loki tricked him but then he was punished.
