Guide to choosing
the system
WIre
The system is made up of devices
which communicate via the BUS
wire; some devices, such as the
controls and actuators, perform
basic functions while others,
such as the TOUCH SCREEN,
perform advanced functions. As
well as allowing the devices to
communicate, the BUS transports
their power supply.
As the actuator devices control
the loads, they must also be
connected to the 240V a.c. power
line. By selecting the suitable
devices one can manage the
following systems:
- lighting
- operating rolling shutters, fans
and exhaust fans
As well as these installation
possibilities there are special
functions which can satisfy
different home comfort needs
very simply. An example is the
possibility of calling, by pressing
a pushbutton, a scenario which
the user can directly personalise
at any time (switching ON several
lamps at the same time, operating
some shutters, etc.).

fLuSH-MouNtING actuatorS
Actuators are devices which
perform the commands sent to
them and control the connected
load, like an electromechanical
relay.
For this reason, as well as being
connected to the BUS cable via
the pull-out terminals, they must
also be connected to the 240V a.c.
load supply line. There are various
types of actuator which differ
in the power controlled and in
the shape, size and installation
features.

The automation system, although using specially
made devices, also allows the use of traditional
devices or a personal computer, allowing the opening
and the fexibility of use towards outside systems.
The connection between the modern BUS digital
technology and the traditionally wired component
or the PC is represented by special devices called
interfaces. These devices in fact interpret the
information of the traditional world and translate it
into signals which are compatible with the BUS logic
devices. The interfaces made are:

The main feature of this device, thanks to its small

in fact in a 503E or PB503 box the interface can be
installed immediately behind the traditional devices
(e.g.: switch, pushbutton) or low electronic devices
(e.g.: commands, sensors). This installation solution
simplifes the conversion of traditional electrical
systems to house-automation systems, as the
existing fush-mounting boxes can be kept, avoiding
making holes in the wall.

Logical dimensions (maximum number of addresses)
A system can manage up to 9 room addresses.
For each room up to 9 addresses can be managed for each actuator.
Any address belonging to one or more groups is added to these addresses.
Large systems (logic expansion)
In large homes or in service/industrial areas it may be necessary to make
Automation systems with a number of devices which exceeds the address
limit described.
In this case a complex Automation system can be made connecting several
Automation systems to a common BUS, by means of interface item F422
congured in the logic expansion mode.
GeNeraL ruLeS for INStaLLatIoN
Max. number of devices
Installation rules:
In sizing the system remember the following recommendations:
1. The riser BUS must be made up of an automation system.
2. In this way up to 10 interfaces can be connected to the riser, it can thus
manage up to ten systems as if there were only one.
features:
Each system is separated by others and works independently, as it can use
all the 81 conguration addresses provided (9 light points for each of the 9
rooms).
Command devices congured to send GROUP or GENERAL commands
respectively to some or all the actuators in the individual system and in the
common BUS itself can be installed in the common BUS.
The POINT-TO-POINT commands generated inside each individual system and
on the common riser cannot reach the other systems; they can thus only
work on the actuators in the respective system.
To send GROUP, GENERAL commands etc. from one system to another use the
control device item L4651/2 congured to send AUXILIARY commands.
Control and centralised management devices such as Web server, Touch
screen and Energy management control unit must be installed on the
common BUS.

Physical dimensions (linked to the cable length and device absorption)
The maximum number of devices which can be connected on the BUS
depends on their total absorption and the distance between the connection
point and the power supply. The power supply can supply up to 1.2A; the
maximum number of devices will thus be determined by the sum of the
absorptions of the individual devices to be installed. For the purposes of
the calculations described, refer to the absorption table in the technical
features.
In calculating the absorptions also consider the availability of current
depending on the length of cable.
During the sizing thus respect the following rules:

Installation rules:
In sizing the system remember the following recommendations:
1. Each BUS, connected in input and in output to the interface, must be
supplied with its own power supply and for each of them the system
limits, in terms of absorption and maximum distances specied below,
apply.
A system made up of two or more BUSes, connected by interfaces
congured in physical expansion mode, cannot be supplied with only
one power supply item E46ADCN, even if the number and the type of
components connected to the system would not involve exceeding the
maximum absorption planned (1200 mA).
Large systems (physical extensions)
In large systems or with current absorption greater than the limit of 1200 mA
supplied by power supply item E46ADCN, the system must be divided into several
stretches supplied with their own power supply and connected by means of
interface item F422 congured in physical expansion mode.
Features:
For each BUS apply the system limits, in terms of absorption and maximum wiring
distances, as indicated in the previous page. A system made up of two or more
BUSes, connected by interfaces congured in physical expansion mode, cannot
be supplied with only one power supply item E46ADCN, even if the number and
the type of components connected to the system would not involve exceeding
the maximum absorption planned (1200 mA).
Positions I3 and I4 must be congured as a function of the conguration of the
Automation devices in the two systems connected together. In reference to the
illustration, supposing for example that I3=2, I4=7:
on the input (IN) BUS the addresses of the Automation 1 devices must be
between A=1 / PL=1 and A=2 / PL=6;
on the output (OUT) BUS the addresses of the automation 2 devices must be
between A=2 / PL=8 at the address of the next interface.

To understand the addressing logic it is useful to dene some terms which
will occur frequently in this text.
Room (A)
Set of devices belonging to a logical area (in a home, for example, the living
room, the bedroom, etc.).
Light Point (PL)
Numeric identication of the single actuators inside the Room.
group (g)
Set of devices also belonging to different rooms but which must be
controlled at the same time (e.g. the rolling shutters of the North side of the
home, the lighting of the day area, etc.).

Up to 9 room addresses can be
managed in one system.
For each room up to 9 addresses can be
managed for each actuator.
To these addresses are added any
belonging to one or more groups.
Actuator address
The address of each actuator is dened uniquely by assigning the numeric
congurators 1 to 9 in positions A (Room) and PL (Light Point inside the
Room).
A maximum of 9 addresses can be dened for each room; a maximum of 9
rooms can be dened in a system.
The group of belonging is dened by inserting a third numeric congurator in
the housing identied with G (Group).
Some actuators have several G positions (G1, G2 and G3) as they can belong
to several different groups at the same time.
Example: The actuator congured with A = 1,
PL = 3 e G = 4 is device 3
of room 1 belonging to group 4.
For special applications such as extensive systems in houses or service/
industrial rooms, where the use of many devices may exceed the
conguration limits mentioned above (9 addresses for each of the 9
rooms planned), interface item F422 can be used, congured in the logic
expansion mode.
This mode can expand a system made up of several individual systems,
each of which may thus use all the 81 addresses, connected together on a
single BUS with riser function. A typical use may be the house distributed
over several oors: a system can be made for each oor and they can be
connected by means of interface item F422.

The drawing shows two rooms of a building with 6 windows (3 for each
room) with electrically operated rolling shutters.
Each actuator connected to the rolling shutter is identied by three numbers:
Room number (A), progressive device number (PL) and Group (G) to which
it belongs.
The control devices are instead marked by two congurators in positions A
and PL which specify the actuators which will receive the command (one
only, one group or several actuators of a room).
Point-to-point control
Control 1 (A = 1, PL = 1) controls actuator 1 (A = 1, PL = 1 and G = 1). In the
same way control 2 (A = 1, PL = 2) controls actuator 2 (A = 1, PL = 2 and G
= 1) etc..
Room control
Room control 1 (A = ROOM, PL = 1) controls actuators 1, 2 and 3 marked with
A = 1. In the same way Room control 2 (A = ROOM, PL = 2) controls actuators
4, 5 and 6 marked with A = 2.
group control
The two Group controls can manage some rolling shutters of room 1 and
others of room 2. In fact the group control 1 marked with A = GR and PL = 1
controls actuators 1, 2, 5 and 6 marked with G = 1. In the same way group
control 2 (A = ROOM, PL = 2) controls actuators 3 and 4.
general control
The device identied A = GEN and PL = - (no congurator) sends a general
command to all the actuators in the system.

MaIN coNtroL oPeratING ModeS
The devices in the automation system can perform different functions, such
as setting the brightness, switching lamps ON/OFF or opening/closing rolling
shutters.
The function performed, i.e. what the device must do, is dened by putting
congurators into the housings marked with M of the control devices and
completing the devices with keys and key covers (if the devices are ush
mounted). The table below lists the various operating modes depending on
the congurator and type of key cover used in the device.

Cyclical ON-OFF command
Pressing the device used with relay actuators several times on
the key cover sends the ON and OFF command alternately.
With dimmer actuators keeping the pushbutton pressed adjusts
the load power.
ON command
On pressing the key cover the device sends the ON command.
OFF command
On pressing the key cover the device sends the OFF command.
Monostable ON-OFF command (pushbutton)
This mode can perform an ON/OFF command similar to the
command of a traditional point-to-point pushbutton, thus
intended just for one address.
Bistable command with hold (UP-DOWN for rolling shutters).
By pressing the key cover (lower or upper) quickly, it sends
the UP-DOWN command for a rolling shutter motor. After the
command has been given, pressing the lower or upper key cover
again stops the rolling shutter in the position required.
Monostable command (UP-DOWN for rolling shutters).
The device sends an UP-DOWN command for a rolling shutter
motor as long as the lower or upper key cover is pressed.
When the key cover is released the motor STOPS.
ON/OFF command
Used with relay actuators, when the upper key cover is pressed
the device sends an ON command; when the lower key cover is
pressed the device sends an OFF command.
With dimmer actuators pressing the upper and lower key cover
adjusts the load power.

Some special functions can be performed using a resource common to all
the SCS systems: the auxiliary channels. There are 9 transmission channels
on which commands can be sent. Commands can be sent on auxiliary
channels from any control device, conguring A = AUX and PL = 1 to 9. The
congurator in PL species on which auxiliary channel the command must be
transmitted, while the mode of operation is specied by congurator M as
for all the other commands. The actuators do not recognise these commands
directly; the special command which translates the auxiliary into a command
which the actuators can perform must therefore be used.

Slave
This mode can perform a command with two or more actuators.
In practice the actuators with the SLA (Slave) congurator repeat
the function performed by another actuator which acts as Master.
The actuators must have the same addresses and must be of
the same type (either all light actuators or all rolling shutter
actuators).
PUL
The device does not operate with the Room and General
commands.

This Item can be used in systems that have an SCS/SCS interface item F422.
When installing the control on the bus of an interface (terminal OUT), it is
possible to send commands to an actuator situated on the bus of another
interface directly, without using auxiliary controls as a medium. This new Item
has a conguration housing called I used for the address of the interface
on which there is the actuator to be controlled. The interfaces in the system
(in logical expansion mode) must be numbered from 1 to 9 (I=1 to 9). If I=0,
the control for extended systems sends commands intended for actuators
installed only on the local section; if I=CEN, the control for extended systems
sends commands intended for actuators installed on the main riser.

timer control Item L4656
This device enables you to achieve advanced timing functions. When
conguring the M1/M2 housings for determining the timing minutes and S1/
S2 for the timing seconds, it is possible to send timed commands, with time
up to 59 minutes and 59 seconds with 1 second steps. If M1=M2=S1=S2=9,
a command with a timing of 0.5 seconds will be sent. If M1=M2=S1=S2=0,
the command will not be timed, thus operating in cyclical ON-OFF mode on
the P1 button. If the sub-keys contained in the package are appropriately
selected (1 or 2 modules, 1 or 2 functions), it will be possible to send only
timing commands or, when using the two keys on the right, the usual ON,
OFF or dimmer adjustment commands.
As shown in the table, it is possible to achieve the following functions in
combination with the keys:
- only timing function implemented with 2-module key 1 function
(pushbutton P1);
- timing function with one key on the left, 1 module and 1 function
(pushbutton P1) and one key on the right, 1 module and 1 function for
sending OFF commands (pushbutton P3);
- timing function with one key on the left, 1 module and 1 function
(pushbutton P1) and one key on the right, 1 module and 2 functions for
sending ON commands (pushbutton P2) and OFF commands (pushbutton
P3) or with long pressure, adjustment of the dimmer brightness level.
This Item can also be used in systems that have the SCS/SCS interface item
F422. When installing the control on the bus of an interface, it is possible
to send commands to an actuator situated on the bus of another interface
directly, without using auxiliary controls as a medium.
This new Item has a conguration housing called I used for the address of
the interface on which there is the actuator to be controlled. The interfaces
in the system (in logical expansion mode) must be numbered from 1 to 9
(I4=1 to 9).
If I=0, the control sends commands intended for actuators installed only on
the local section; if I=CEN, the timer command sends commands intended for
actuators installed on the main riser.
NOTE: Please refer to Bticinos sales technicians for the availability date of
the actuators.

The control unit, size 2 Living International/Light modules, has 4 pushbuttons
on the front to recall the scenarios and 4 LED to indicate the active scenario.
These pushbuttons are activated by means of Light Kristall keys and key
covers with double function, with labels to make a note of the scenarios
saved. On the basis of the conguration of position M, the control unit
can act as independent device (Master), or as Slave, repeater of keys
programmed in another control unit set as Master.

Press one of the four keys in the control unit to activate the scenarios
previously set. In this case all the commands which have been saved
sequentially according to a specic programming procedure are activated
at the same time and act on the actuators of the whole system, even of
different rooms (regardless of whether there is a congurator in position A of
the scenario control unit).
One or more scenarios saved can be changed and/or deleted at any time, as
the user requires.
The control unit can be congured to manage two types of scenario:
Activation of scenarios for all the system devices by sending an OFF
command just to the devices belonging to a specic room.
The value of congurator 1 to 9 in positions A and PL denes the control unit
address in the system.
Pressing the key corresponding to one of the four scenarios saved puts all
the actuators of the room set in A to OFF and then sets the new scenario
selected, signalled by its LED lighting up.
After the scenario is activated, if the same key is pressed again, the state of
all the actuators of the room set in A is reset and the LED goes out.
Scenarios activating dimmer actuators Item L4674 cannot be managed with
this mode.

In this case the value of congurator 1 to 9 in position PL denes the control
unit address in the system.
With this mode pressing one of the four pushbuttons does not previously
send an OFF command to the system actuators before activating the scenario.
The control unit therefore does not reset all the actuators in the system; if a
specic actuator not considered in the scenario is to be moved to OFF, move
it by means of its control device.
With an active scenario, if the control key is pressed later, the LED goes out
but the scenario set remains.
Note: the scenario control unit occupies an address in the system. No
actuator can be congured with the same A and PL address as the control
unit.

Programming the scenarios
The control unit can only save the scenarios if the device is set as Master (no
congurator in position M).
Thanks to the devices self-learning feature, the control unit programming
procedure is summarised in activating all those system commands which
dene the scenarios and in the later saving phase in which the control unit
saves and associates the scenarios set to each of the four keys.
After conguring the control unit, reset (see section below), then continue
with the programming as specied below:
1) Put the two-way switch on the back of the control unit in position
to activate the self-learning phase;
2) Press one of the four pushbuttons to which the scenario is to be
associated until its LED lights up. When it starts ashing this signals that
the programming phase is active.
3) Set the scenario by means of the commands and/or actuators involved.
Several commands can be saved, up to a maximum of:
45 (key 1) 35 (key 2)
25 (key 3) 20 (key 4)
WARNING
In this phase do not give commands outside the scenario to be activated
because the control unit will save them.
If the number of commands being saved is greater than the value
allowed, the control unit ashes more quickly. The LED then goes out and
the programming phase stops.
In this situation a new program will replace the rst commands set during
the previous scenario.
4) At the end of the scenario denition, conrm the save by pressing the key
marked by the ashing indicator again. The indicator will then extinguish.
5) Repeat the procedure described in points 2, 3 and 4 to program the
scenarios associated with the other keys. Also follow this procedure to
add or change the features of a scenario already set.
Warning
This procedure does not cancel the commands already saved. If the
scenario is to be changed completely, reset.
6) If the features of the scenarios saved are to be changed at any time keep
the two-way switch on the back on the position; if not switch the
two-way switch to position (programming locked, useful in public
places where outside people have access).
position M
Resetting one or more saved scenarios
If the device is ready for programming, one or all the scenarios saved can be
reset at any time. To reset a scenario just keep its key pressed for about ten
seconds (the LED lights up and goes out after a few seconds).
The LED ashes more quickly to signal that the memory has been cancelled.
To reset all the scenarios saved at the same time press the keys of scenario
1 and of scenario 4 for about ten seconds (the indicator of key 1 lights up
and goes out after a few seconds).
In this case the four LED ash more quickly to signal that the memory has
been cancelled.
46 My HoMe - autoMatIoN
To link a scenario Module to a command, put the Room and Light Point
congurators into housings [A] and [PL]. Several scenario Modules can be
installed in the same system by assigning different addresses to them. To
congure the special Command (item L4651/2), [M] and [SPE] must be
considered as well as housings [A] and [PL]. Putting congurator 6 into [SPE]
sets the device up to control the scenario module, then putting a congurator
from 1 to 4 into [M] selects the group of scenarios to be commanded with
the 4 keys as indicated in the table. To use the Touch screen consult the
manuals which come with the item itself.
Programming
To program, change or cancel a scenario enable the programming so that
the programming state LED is green (press the lock/unlock button on the
Scenario module for at least 0.5 seconds). Operations:
1) Press one of the four keys on the Special command to which the scenario
is to be associated for 3 seconds, the corresponding orange LED lights up
and then ashes signalling the learning phase. Wait for the orange LED to
ash before continuing.
2) Construct the scenario by means of the commands belonging to the
various Automation, Temperature control, Sound Diffusion System, etc.
functions.
3) Conrm the scenario by pressing the corresponding button on the Special
command quickly; the LED changes from ashing orange to green.
4) To change or create new scenarios to be linked to the other keys, repeat
the procedure starting from point 1.
If the Scenario module does not receive a command within 30 minutes
from the beginning of the learning phase, the programming is automatically
interrupted.
To call a set scenario just press its button on the Special command quickly.
To cancel a scenario completely, keep the corresponding button pressed
for about ten seconds. The orange LED signals the cancellation by ashing
quickly. To cancel the entire memory keep the DEL button on the Scenario
module pressed for 10 seconds, the yellow reset scenarios LED ashes
quickly. Once the operations have been performed lock the programming,
pressing the lock/unlock button for at least 0.5 seconds, so that the
corresponding LED becomes red.
Notes
Inside the system itself one Scenario module can be programmed at
once as the other devices are temporarily locked; during this phase the
programming state LED becomes orange signalling the temporary Lock.
During the learning phase and when there are timed commands or group
commands, the Scenario module does not save events for 10 or 5 seconds
respectively. You must thus wait before continuing with creating the scenario.
During the scenario learning phase only the changes of state are saved.
The Scenario module should be congured with a different A and PL address
from that of an actuator. Use A=0 and PL=1-9, which cannot be used by
actuators.

To cancel a scenario
1) the Scenario Module must be enabled in order to execute the
programming process;
2) press the button of the scenario you want to cancel for at least 8 seconds:
the red LED will turn on after 3 seconds; it will turn off after another 5
seconds; release the key. The corresponding LED will start ashing quickly
for about 2 seconds, thus indicating that the scenario has been cancelled.
If the LED does not ash, it means that the command has failed.
NOTE: To cancel all scenarios of the module, use the reset key directly on the
scenario module Item F420.
Programming a scenario

1) the Scenario Module must be enabled in order to execute the
programming process;
2) press the key you want to associate the scenario with for 4 seconds.
When the LED turns on, release the key. The corresponding LED will begin to ash,
hence indicating the activation of the programming mode;
3) set the scenario using the controls and/or actuators;
4) when the scenario is set, press the button with the ashing LED again to
exit the programming mode;
5) repeat par. 2, 3 and 4 for all the other keys, including those that are
already programmed if you need to add commands to the associated
scenario.
NOTE: when you nish programming, it is recommended to disable the
possibility to modify the scenarios by acting on the enable/disable key of the
scenario module.
The Scenario Control is a device that does not directly manage the scenarios
by storing them inside of it. It basically acts as a control to activate, create
and change 4 scenarios stored in the Scenario Module Item F420 provided
that the latter is enabled for being modied with the enable/disable key.
Confguration

Mode A (remote control)
This mode lets the user associate generic commands (ON/OFF, UP/DOWN)
intended for single loads or double loads with the remote control keys.
The correspondence between the remote control keys and the loads
commanded is determined in the installation phase by the conguration of
positions A and PL 1 to 4 of the IR receiver, as shown in the table below. The
following can be associated with the remote control pushbuttons:
- Point-to-point commands, i.e. intended for single or double loads (rolling
shutter motor) whose address is specied by congurator 1 to 9 in
positions PL 1 to 4. The various modes of operation are determined by the
association of the congurators with the PL positions.
- Commands intended for actuators for single and double loads belonging
to the room dened with congurator 1 to 9 in position A. In this case the
modes of operation are dened by the congurators marked by the graphics
of the function performed, inserted in positions PL 1 to 4.

Programming the receiver
If the IR receiver is to be set up to save/modify commands associated with
the remote control key, the two-way switch on the back must be in the open
padlock position.
With respect to function a (remote control) position M is not congured to
set the associated remote control. A scenario can be reset and at the same
time a remote control key associated to it following the following procedure:
Selection of the key to associate to a scenario and reset of the scenario
1) Press the key on the infrared receiver and keep it pressed; the LED lights
up and goes out after a few seconds; the key can then be released.
2) Within 20 seconds press the key on the remote control to be associated
to a scenario. The receiver associates the key and resets the scenario and
conrms by the LED ashing. From this point the scenario is only activated
by the remote control key so set.
3) Repeat the operations of points 1, 2 and 3 for each scenario to which a
key is to be associated.
With reference to the picture of the previous page, a key can be associated
to a scenario only according to the table below:
- Scenario 1 - CH1, CH5, CH9, CH13;
- Scenario 2 - CH2, CH6, CH10, CH14;
- Scenario 3 - CH3, CH7, CH11, CH15;
- Scenario 4 - CH4, CH8, CH12, CH16.
Saving scenarios
If a key has already been associated to the scenario to be created or
modied, the saving procedure is the following:
1) Press the pushbutton on the front of the IR receiver until the LED lights up.
2) While the LED is lit up, press the key associated to the scenario on the
remote control within 20 seconds.
The LED ashes to conrm the correct programming procedure:
- scenario 1 (1 ash every 4 seconds)
- scenario 2 (2 ashes every 4 seconds)
- scenario 3 (3 ashes every 4 seconds)
- scenario 4 (4 ashes every 4 seconds)
3) At this point the scenario can be set by means of the controls and/or
actuators involved.
4) When the scenario has been dened conrm the saving by pressing the
key on the receiver and making sure that the LED has gone out.
5) The procedure of the previous point must be repeated to dene the other
scenarios and to modify a previous saving.
The LED ashes to signal the reception of one of the four commands sent by
the remote control.
Several remote controls can activate the same scenario.
To modify an already set scenario repeat the operations described in Saving
scenarios.
If the key associated with the scenario is to be changed, repeat the
operations described in Selection of the key to associate with a scenario and
scenario reset; this operation also deletes the scenario.
Mode C (remote scenarios)
This operating mode is only used if the system has a scenario control unit
Item N4681. In this case the IR receiver saves and associates the four keys of
the scenario control unit with the four keys of the remote control.
By means of the remote control the user can then recall the scenarios saved
by the control unit.
To enable the receiver for this mode of operation, positions A and PL1
must be congured with the same address as the scenario control unit and
in position M with congurator SLA. To select the remote controls to be
associated with the receiver (communication channels) follow the procedure
described above for function B (remote self-learning).
Mode B (remote self-learning)
In this mode the IR receiver works as if it were a scenario control unit which
can be activated by remote control. Like scenario control unit Item N4681,
just put the receiver into self-learning mode, press one of the remote control
keys and activate those control devices or actuators whose function is to be
saved.
The great exibility of this mode of operation means that the user can not
only call the controls or scenarios required with the remote control, but also
change their features at any time, as required.
To enable the IR receiver for this mode of operation congure positions A
and PL1. If numeric congurators 1 to 9 are inserted in A and PL1 dene
the receiver address in the system. The receiver activates the scenarios for
all the system devices subject to sending an OFF command to all the active
devices of the room specied in A.
If congurators 1 to 9 are inserted only in position PL1, the receiver is
enabled to activate scenarios for all the system devices, leaving any
previously activated devices active.
In this case the value of the congurator in PL1 denes the number of the
IR receiver in the system. The receiver occupies an address in the system (A
and PL). No actuator can be congured with the same A and PL address as
the receiver.

Transponder programming for automation functions
Programming transponders (badges) is extremely easy and allows you to
store the code inside the protected control. In this case, you can store up to
120 codes. The procedure described below should be also followed when
transponders are added.
1) Flip the slide switch on the back of the protected control to position
2) press the programming key located on the front of the product for 5
seconds. The red LED will switch on steadily and the buzzer will emit 1
BEEP; release the button.
3) Now, move the badges towards the protected control.
4) Make sure there are two short and slow tones (1/2 sec between one BEEP
and the other) as well as 2 red Led ashes
The badge is stored.
5) Repeat points 3 and 4 for all available badges
NOTE: If there is a quick double BEEP (250 msec between one beep and the
other) with a red Led ash, it means that the badge is already stored.

As the passive IR detectors cannot generate and send a command to one
or more actuators directly, their use is subject to combination with a control
device for advanced functions Item L4651/2.
In this case the communication between the detector and the associated
control device is established by dening an auxiliary channel and numeric
congurators in the AUX positions of the IR detector and the control device.
The detection of a person by the IR detector thus turns into a signal which
reaches the control device Item L4651/2 via an auxiliary channel.

As well as being connected to the BUS cable, the automation system
actuators are connected to the 230V a.c. line to control the load by means of
an internal relay.
Depending on the installation features they are divided into two categories:
- with Living International/Light/Light Tech modularity for installation in
ush-mounting boxes by the side of SCS control devices, traditional devices
or in junction boxes. These devices are completed with two-module key
covers of the Living International/Light/Light Tech/Kristall series;
- with DIN modularity for centralised installation in distribution boards or
distribution boards. These devices can also be easily tted in trunking or
junction boxes after removal of the adapter for rear DIN rail and the front
protection cover.
Depending on the loads which can be controlled, the actuators are divided
into:
- 1-relay actuators to control a single load (lamp, fan, ...)
- 2-relay actuator to control two single loads or a double load (two lamps or
a motor to drive door and window frames, shutters, ...)
- 4-relay actuator to control 4 single loads or two double loads (four lamps,
two motors to drive door and window frames, shutters, ...)
All the actuators have pushbuttons on the front for the direct control of the
load connected.
Master/Slave mode
This mode can extend a command to two or more actuators simultaneously.
In this case all the actuators must be congured with the same addresses;
the rst actuator (Master) will be put in position M to perform the function
required, the other actuators (Slave) must have the SLA congurator in
position M to repeat the function of the Master actuator.
One use of the master/slave mode is represented by the need to control
many loads with total power greater than the output of the relay of a single
actuator at the same time.

This device, made both in 2 Living International and Light series ush-

a relay with NC contacts.
To congure the actuators means assigning them a number (from 1 to
8) which denes the degree of priority for deactivating the loads after
an overload. This number will be 1 when the load must be deactivated
rst, 2 for the second load to be deactivated and so on. Several actuators
can however be congured with the same priority by assigning the same
number; in this case the loads will be deactivated simultaneously. The
eight priority (importance) levels of the load connected to the actuator are
assigned by putting a numbered congurator into the CC housing.
If positions A and PL are congured the device is set up for operation as a

To repeat key 3 of the scenario control unit Item L/N/NT4681 with a traditional
pushbutton connected to the black wire and the white wire (PL1), congure SPE
= 4 and M = 3.
In positions A and PL1 congure the address of the scenario control unit to be
controlled with the traditional pushbutton (e.g. A=1 and PL1=1 for the control
unit with address A=1 and PL=1). If position PL2 is congured as well (e.g. with
congurator 2), the interface is enabled to repeat key 3 of a second scenario
control unit with address A=1 and PL=2 with a traditional pushbutton connected
to the black wire and the grey wire (PL2).
If instead positions PL1 and PL2 have the same congurator, both pushbuttons
connected to the interface repeat key 3 of the scenario control unit.
Two different keys of the same control unit cannot be controlled with one
interface.
When only a traditional device is to be connected to the interface, it must only
be connected to the black wire and the white wire (PL1) and positions A and
PL1 must be congured.

The device can communicate between BUSes based on SCS technology, even
if they are dedicated to different functions. Whatever the mode of use of
the interface, remember that the two BUSes connected to it for all purposes
form two systems and, as such, are subject to all the dimensioning and
installation rules laid down.
Address confguration (confgurators I1 I2 I3 I4)
Housings I1, I2, I3 and I4 are used to identify the interface inside the system
uniquely.
With actuators and controls, a function is performed by the congurators
in housings A (room) and PL (light point). In both cases conguring the
device means giving it an address which identies it. The interface address
must be different from any other address on the two BUSes connected to it.
Depending on the mode of use, the interface may have an address dened
with only two congurators, I3 and I4, leaving the housings for I1 and I2
empty, or with all four:
- Only I3 and I4; when the interface is used in the physical expansion,
logical expansion, burglar-alarm/automation interface
- I1, I2, I3 and I4; when the interface is used in the public riser mode.
Mode of operation confguration (MOD confgurator)
The following ve modes are available:
1 Physical expansion (congurator MOD=1):
can increase the total BUS length or exceed the absorption limit of 1200
mA for the individual power supply.
2 Logical expansion (congurator MOD=2):
can increase the number of devices of a system, which is 81 (max 9 rooms
with 9 light points each).
3 Public riser (congurator MOD=3):
can interface the digital door entry or video door entry systems with the
other BUSes of the burglar-alarm or automation systems.
4 Burglar-alarm/automation interface (congurator MOD=4):
allows the automation and burglar-alarm systems to communicate.
5 Galvanic separation (congurator MOD = no congurator required):
can connect the video door entry system with an automation system
allowing monitoring via Web Server A/V.
NOTE: for more details about the modes described in points 3, 4 and 5 see the
SYSTEM INTEGRATION chapter.

Physical expansion mode of operation
For this mode of operation congurator 1 must be inserted in the MOD
position of the interface.
The positions identied with I1 and I2 must not be congured.
The separation address between the two BUSes connected to the
interface must instead be dened in positions I3 and I4.
Supposing as in the example that I3=3, I4=2:
- on the input BUS (IN) the addresses must go from A=1 / PL=1 to A=3 /
PL=1;
- on the output BUS (OUT) the addresses must go from A=3 / PL=3 to A=9 /
PL=9 or to the address of the next interface.
As can be seen from the example, all the automation BUS 1 addresses are
lower than that of the interface, while all the automation BUS 2 addresses
are higher; the interface address thus separates all the addresses of which
the complete system may be made up into two or more blocks.
To position the devices in the global system, remember the indications of the

Positioning the devices inside the system, commandS
confguration and logic system:
When conguring the devices which will be connected to the global
Automation system, remember that:
1. all the command devices congured to send point-to-point, Room, Group
and General commands can be connected without distinction on either
branch of the system (1 or 2) regardless of their addresses in A and PL
positions.
2. This is also true in the case of actuators congured in the slave
operation mode and for actuators item F412 and L/N/NT4672 of the
Energy management system.
3. Scenario control unit item N4681, the actuators (also those congured
as master) and the IR receivers item L/N/NT4654 are installed on the
stretch of BUS 1 or 2 corresponding to their own local address. Example:
if the scenario control unit is congured as A=2, PL=1 it will be put on
system 1.
4. The energy management system item control unit F421 and the control
panel item N4682 must be placed on the BUS with higher addresses (system
2).
5. Interface item F422 allows the transit between the various systems of the
Point-to-Point, Group, Room and General commands.
As an example, install a command congured A=1 and PL=5 in system 2 to
command actuator A=1 and PL=5 installed in system 1.

Logic expansion mode of operation
For this mode congurator 2 must be put in the MOD position.
The positions identied with I1 and I2 must not be congured, while in
positions I3 and I4 the interface address must instead be congured
inside the individual system connected to the riser, with the same modes of
assignation of address A and PL of the devices remembering that:
I3 = A
I4 = PL
Installation example
Positioning the devices in the system, confguration and
command logic:
In conguring the Global automation system, remember that:
1. each system connected to the common riser may use all the 81 addresses
provided (9 light points for 9 Rooms) apart from the address of interface
item F422 which will be assigned in positions I3 and I4.
2. The common riser must be made up of an Automation system in which
the Energy management control unit and the control unit with dialling
device item 3500 can be installed as well as the command devices and
actuators.

The memory module can reset the state of the lights controlled by an
automation system at the end of a black-out.
The device does not have to be congured to guarantee operation. The Room
and Light Point must only be congured when the memory module is to be
interrogated by other devices connected to the BUS, such as the Web server.
When the memory module is programmed one can select the lights whose
state is to be reset and those whose state is not to be reset.
Programming sequence:
- connect the memory module and switch ON the BUS (all the loads are OFF).
- press the key on the front for at least ve seconds, the LED is ON.
- select the loads which are not managed, switching them ON (all the loads
which are OFF will be managed).
- press the key, the LED will start to ash quickly to show the learning phase.
- the LED ashes slowly again, the learning phase has ended and the
memory module is operative.
At the end of the programming phase a test should be performed to check
that the device is set correctly:
- switch ON some of the controlled loads (i.e. those not explicitly excluded in
the programming phase and not congured as PUL in M).
- switch OFF, simulating a black-out, for at least 15 seconds.
- switch back ON again; after a few seconds the state of the controlled loads
must be reset (i.e. those which were ON before the black-out must switch
back ON), while the unmanaged loads must however remain OFF.
NOTES: - The control automatically excludes actuators congured with
M = PUL.
- The rolling shutter actuators are not managed.

NOTES:
1) uorescent lamps with corrected power factor, energy-saving lamps, discharge lamps.
2) Account must be taken of the transformer yield to calculate the effective power of the load connected to the actuator. For example, if a dimmer is connected to a
100VA ferromagnetic transformer with yield 0.8, the effective load power will be 125VA. The transformer must be loaded to its rated power and in any case never
lower than 90% of this power. It is preferable to use a single transformer rather than several transformers in parallel. For example, it is better to use a single 250VA
transformer with 5 50W spot lights connected rather than use 5 50VA transformers in parallel, each with a 50W spot light.

NOTE: 1) the power dissipated indicated is that corresponding to the device with all the relays loaded at the maximum load. If the load is less, the dissipated
power is less and may be calculated by means of the following formula:
P[mW]=140+400*N+10*[I
1
2
+I
2
2
+...I
N
2
]
P: dissipated power in mW,
N: no. of loaded relays
I
N
: load current corresponding to the N relay.
Install the items with greater dissipated power (in particular power supplies and dimmers) in lower positions in the distribution board for easier heat
dissipation. Do not place devices which dissipate a power greater than 5W side by side, leave an empty module between them.
94 My HoMe - autoMatIoN
This special device lets you control the MY HOME system with a simple
touch of your nger; it is available in two versions: the rst is the colour
version (Item L4684) and the second is the LIVING, LIGHT and LIGHT TECH
monochrome version (Item L/N/NT4683).
Touching the icons for the various functions which appear on the wide
display, the touch screen can in fact switch the lights on and off, lower or
raise the rolling shutters, water the garden, adjust the temperature in various
rooms, select the sound level of the Sound System ampliers etc...
The wide backlit display presents a home page which shows the
applications it can manage graphically. Touching the icon of the application
to be managed (e.g. lighting), a page will appear with the icons for the light
points to be controlled.
With a simple touch on the icon chosen, the lamp or lamps associated with
it will switch on or off. The device is programmed by connecting to a PC and
using special software which can create the link between the icon of the
function to be commanded and the respective MY HOME system in the home.
The touch screen can be easily installed on the wall by means of box Item
PB526 or 506E and ts perfectly in any room in the home because it is
nished off with all the colour nishes of the cover plates of the BTicino

Scenario modules Item f420
The device can save up to 16 scenarios with a maximum of 100 commands
each.
As well as the automation commands this module can also save temperature
control and Sound Diffusion System commands with no installation limit. The
scenarios can also give door entry and Video door entry commands for one-
family systems to switch ON the staircase lights and open the door lock.
If installed in large systems with SCS-SCS interface in logic expansion, the
module can save automation commands for the system where it is installed.
On the front cover of the item there are two keys and two LED.
The rst button locks or unlocks the programming avoiding involuntary
operations such as cancelling the scenarios and the corresponding LED
indicates the state: green programming possible, red programming blocked,
orange temporary block.
The second button cancels all the scenarios, the LED underneath indicates
that the cancellation has taken place or that the device is in the learning
phase. The scenarios are created, modied or switched ON by means of the
special Command (item L4651/2), scenario control (L/N/NT4680) or the
Touch screen (item L/N/NT4683).

The SCS-SCS interface communicates between buses based on the SCS
technology, even if their functions are different.
The interface can work in ve different ways:
1 Physical extension of automation systems
It can increase the distance covered by the SCS BUS or exceed the limits
due to the absorption of the individual components without increasing
the maximum number. It is useful with systems with many actuators.
2 Logic extension of automation systems
It can increase the maximum number of devices which can be connected
to a system.
Very useful for making large systems, e.g. houses on several oors.
The installation of the device in these two modes is described in the section
GENERAL RULES FOR INSTALLATION.
3 Common riser
Allows communication between the Bticino door entry systems or digital
video door entry system and the automation or burglar-alarm systems
in the individual dwellings. Useful for centralising the alarms of the
apartments in an apartment block distribution board.
4 Interface between the automation and burglar-alarm systems
Useful for making the automation system follow the events of the
burgular alarm system, such as switching ON the garden lights if there is
an attempted intrusion.
5 galvanic separation
Connects the video door entry system with an automation system
allowing supervision via Web Server A/V.
The use of the interface in these three modes is described in the section
SYSTEM INTEGRATION of this guide.

traditional device interface L/N/Nt4688 and Item 3477
These devices can integrate traditional control equipment (switch,
pushbutton, etc.) in advanced systems with BUS operation logic. Depending
on installation needs one can choose between two different housings,
keeping the same functionality. Item L/N/NT4688 takes up one module and
belongs to the Living International, Light and Light Tech series, while Item
3477 forms part of the Basic Automation. This series is characterised by its
small size and it can be tted behind traditional devices in the same ush-
mounting box.
Example of use of interface Item L4688 to connect the automation BUS with systems with traditional technology

The use of the automation system can thus be extended in rooms which
already have traditional systems or in historical and special rooms where
remaking the electrical system completely or partially would involve
considerable building work. The old but precious switch with its cabling
which is no longer to standard can thus continue to do its job because the
connection to the load to be controlled is made in complete safety by means
of the connection with the SCS interface with voltage-free contact.
Example of use of interface Item 3477 for the continued use of historical and prestigious electrical equipment with wiring no longer to standard.

MeMory ModuLe IteM f425
The memory module is connected to an automation system with SCS BUS
and permanently saves the state of all the actuators congured to manage
the lights, but not the rolling shutters, after each command sent.
This device is very useful when there is a black-out because it can reset the
state of all the lamps controlled by the automation system when the power
returns.
Just one memory module must be connected to the BUS for each system
installed (i.e. each power supply), apart from when connecting two or
more systems using the SCS/SCS interface (Item F422) congured in
physical expansion mode. In this case just one is needed for all the systems
connected together.
The device must be put into operation when the system is already installed
and powered.
Once the memory module is connected to the BUS press the microswitch on
the front for at least ve seconds so that the type of system can be saved for
the rst time.
In this phase one can also decide which lights to reset and which will
remain OFF after a black-out: a light point must be switched ON during the
programming phase so that it is not managed by the memory module.
During normal operation the LED on the front ashes at one-second intervals
to signal that the memory module is active.

controls protected with a code
The transponder-reader device is triggered when a special badge, called a
transponder, is drawn near (1 2 cm) the immediate surroundings. Compared
to a traditional remote control, the transponder/transponder reader is
safer as it is equipped with a code encryption system. The possibility of
storing up to 30 badges guarantees more exibility when managing the
system, especially in environments (rms, ofces, establishments) where
the number of entitled people is high and changeable. It is designed for
activating/deactivating the Burglar alarm system and can be used in the
Automation system to manage standard and advanced protected controls
