Ir-Ritorn
Teatru Anon
One warm summer evening the Maritme Museum is taken over by a company
of fools who are promising one and all, old and young, big and small, a quirky
good old-fashioned swashbuckling adventure. We will bravely sail the seas
together to defend love and honour and to have a good laugh. Our journeys
follow ancient and familiar routes but even what we think we know, can
suddenly mysteriously and unexpectedly throw a nasty wobbly. Nothing
is what it seems to be.
Well-known local theatre group Theatre anon (Ospizio, Metamorphosis,
Candide) return with a brand new producton based on Homers Odyssey.
Employing their characteristc visual style and various storytelling techniques
they retell the story of the Greek hero Ulysses trying to get back to his home afer

Upclose
Video Opera
In Michel van der Aas cello concerto Up-close, the traditonal interacton of
soloist and ensemble is refected by a mysterious, mirror reality seen on flm.
When the piece begins, a solo cellist and string ensemble sit on the right of the
stage; on the lef stands a large video screen. On the screen we see an elderly
lady sitng among an arrangement of chairs and music stands that parallels the
real-life version on the other side of the stage. It soon becomes clear that this is
only one of a variety of interactons across a hall of mirrors created by the soloist,
ensemble and flm. Up-close is thus a cello concerto duplicated and magnifed
untl it reaches the boundary of video opera. Featuring soloist Konstanze van
Gutzeit under the directon of Pavel Snajdr with the string orchestra of the Malta
Philharmonic Orchestra.
