Algebra II %"er"ie&! Algebra II (2x1) is the first of a two-year Algebra II class. Both years must
be passed in order to graduate. his class builds on s!ills obtained in Algebra I. he first part of the
course includes a re"iew of Algebra I that goes into the concepts with more depth than Algebra I.
#ome of the topics in the class include linear e$uations and ine$ualities% functions and function
families ($uadratic% exponential% logarithmic% rational% and trigonometric)% polynomials% exponents%

Supplies! #tudents are expected to be prepared with pencils and paper. he ,lawson )igh #chool
(athematics -epartment re$uires students to ha"e a .-ring binder de"oted only to mathematics.

If obtaining a .-ring binder with di"iders is a problem% parents can contact (r. 5iefer and a solution
will be reached.
Assignments '2() o *rade+! It6s extremely important that students diligently complete
assignments. here will be sufficient time in class to wor! on assignments7 it is expected that
students will ta!e ad"antage of that time. he assignments will consist of 3roblem #ets (chec!ed
daily for completion and sometimes collected and graded for accuracy) and est ,orrections.
Assignments that are turned in and graded for accuracy can be re-done for a higher grade% up to 1*
out of 1* points8 3oints are gi"en for homewor! turned in on time (.pts) and !ept trac! of separate
from the accuracy grade. he points accumulated for on-time assignments will appear as a separate
assignment grade at the end of the mar!ing period.

It is possible to re-ta!e a est (not the =inal 0xam) if the student is not satisfied with their grade.
Before a re-ta!e is allowed% the student must meet with (r. 5iefer outside of class and pro"e that
they ha"e learned the content in $uestion (homewor!% extra-problems that (r. 5iefer pro"ides).
he second test will be ta!en outside of class with (r. 5iefer and the second test score will be the
recorded test score% e"en if it is lower than the first. (A#0>? of content is the ':A<88

#utoring! (r. 5iefer will be a"ailable before school e"ery day beginning at @&;A a.m. utoring
during <unch BBC is a"ailable for those who ha"e <unch BB.C he times in which (r. 5iefer is
a"ailable after school will be posted in the classroom daily% howe"er (r. 5iefer will probably be
a"ailable during #cholar6s ,lub (uesdays% Dednesdays% and hursdays)
1iscipline and Expectations! If a student enters the classroom% it is assumed that the student has
made the choice to stri"e for excellence. his not only includes achie"ing academically% but also
treating themsel"es and others with respect. De can only succeed if e"eryone is respectful enough
to pre"ent disruptions to the learning process. All students and the teacher are expected to be in
class% in their assigned seats% and ready to begin the learning process immediately after the bell
rings. :f course% all items in the ,lawson #tudent )andboo! will be adhered to (including ha"ing
all electronic de"ices either out of sight or confiscated% the tardyEattendance policy% and dress code
policies).
,onse$uences for disrupting the learning en"ironment include a discussion with (r. 5iefer% calls
home to parentsEguardians% detention assignments% referrals to administrators% and conferences at
school with (r. 5iefer% student% and parentEguardian.
