enaling it to continuously support its mission( helping to impro,e the social economic welfare and
,ulneraility of the 2rphans and 3ulnerale 4hildren 52346 and the 7outh in 1!asi district. In
order to reali0e the ao,e results( the following main acti, ities must e implemented:
'. 4ontract the ser,ices of a uilder to construct a chic!en house
2. $elect and train 234( especially those out of school( to support the project
&. Procure and rear chic!ens to lay eggs to e sold for consumption
+. 4ontinuously monitor and e,aluate acti,ities to ensure ojecti,es are met
If these acti, ities are implemented( it will create a great impact in the li,es of the project
eneficiaries. In the first place( the the project will create employment for at least &0 youngsters
currently not employed in any producti,e ,enture. This employment will gi,e them an alternati,e
way to generate income( decreasing their dependence on hand outs ( and therey decreasing their
ris! of transmitting and contracting 8I39$T:s especially girls. In the second place( it will pro,ide
N7a*i "ati#"a' a**#ciati#" #1 "#" 3#ver"me"ta' #r3a"i8ati#" a secure source of funding for its
program acti, ities( allowing it to continuously sustain 20/ of its current acti, ities
In spite of these goals( N7a*i "ati#"a' a**#ciati#" #1 "#" 3#ver"me"ta' #r3a"i8ati#" lac!s the

!. INTRO<UCTION
Organizational Profile
N7a*i "ati#"a' a**#ciati#" #1 "#" 3#ver"me"ta' #r3a"i8ati#" is a non profit 2rgani0ation 51=26(
with a focus on wor!ing with teenage youth5s6. It is dedicated to promoting educational and health
programmes for the 234 and youths in total dire need. It also see!s to facilitate the youths to initiate
create income generating projects( and as we all as creating de,elopment initiati,es to employ them.
It started its operations to respondents to the needs of 234 and 7ouths who were destitute ecause
of the AI:$ epidemic. >e ha,e currently identified a total of +66 youths and children in total dire
need. At the present moment we ha,e )00 children 5220 oys and 2-0 girls6 with ages ranging from
' month to 2' years.
%. PROBLE, STATE,ENT = PROJECT LOCATION
The prolem at hand is that many cases the organi0ation find itself in financial needs particularly in
addressing the physical( material and educational needs for 234 and the youth. In addition( some of
the youth out school are unemployed in producti,e ,enture so as to support themsel,es. This has not
only put the organi0ation on the high ris! of relying on donor funds to meets it asic needs( ut also
it will put some of the youth especially girls at an e?tremely high ris! for contracting 8I3 and other
$T:s.
Against this ac!ground( we consultati, ely came up with the poultry project as income generating
project as supplementary sources of income to N7a*i "ati#"a' a**#ciati#" #1 "#" 3#ver"me"ta'
#r3a"i8ati#" .urthermore( the organi0ation see!s to pro,ide income generation projects for the

B. Train selected the 7outh( with the help of partner organi0ations( in usiness( management
and poultry farming

group and N7a*i "ati#"a' a**#ciati#" #1 "#" 3#ver"me"ta' #r3a"i8ati#" as an
organi0ation( re,iewing the management of the project and the sale of poultry products
8. Justification of the project:
The project is a three<fold strategy( in that it see!s to create a ,iale income generation project N7a*i
"ati#"a' a**#ciati#" #1 "#" 3#ver"me"ta' #r3a"i8ati#"( gi,ing it an alternate way to support its
daily acti, ities and to impro,e the welfare of the 234 and the 7outh. The project will produce
poultry products for sale and the proceeds will not only assist the organi0ation to meet the asic necessities
of life for the 234s such as medical care and scholastic materials( ut also reduce the financial costs the
organi0ation spends on uying these products for daily consumption. And it has een pro,ed that poultry
products are a cheap source of the protein which is ,ital in maintaining the immune system of 8I3
positi,e persons for as long as possile. This will e a great help to some our 234 who are li,ing
with 8I3.
$econd( the project see!s to create employment opportunities to some of the youth so that they cater for
themsel,es and to some e?tent their dependents. >ith respect to multiplier effect( the acti, ities of this
project will e scaled up y non memers. 2r the project will e a model for future income
generation projects within the community and will e replicated y oth N7a*i "ati#"a' a**#ciati#"
