From our Principal...
The leaves are turning and the weather is becoming chilly in the morning. This year is
flying and there is so much to report in this newsletter. Please take the time to read
and become familiar with the many upcoming events happening at Seven Oaks.
The H1N1 Flu shot will be given on Monday, November 16th in the morning only to
those students who have permission slips returned. We have sent home two flyers
along with permission slips and made several phone blasts from the school to notify
parents of this vaccination. If your child is having this flu shot you are certainly wel-
come to be with your child during this time. Please notify your child’s teacher of your
intentions. The schedule is being finalized this week. If you have any questions please
call Mrs. Gorick, our school nurse.
American Education Week is November 16-20. Our students will enjoy Kimberly
Johnson, a South Carolina author of children’s books on Thursday, November 19.
During this day students will meet with our author and learn some valuable writing
tips. Then Thursday night at 5:30-6:00 a pizza supper will be served. The cost is
$3.00 per person or $15.00 for a family or five or more. Beginning at 6:00 our author
will begin our program talking to parents and then students will take their parents to
their classrooms to showcase their writing. Please be in attendance for this special
event. During all this week and during our PTA night parents and students can come
to the media center and purchase books for their children during our Scholastic Book
Fair.
On Thursday, November 24th, our PE teachers will be hosting our annual Country and
Western Day for our students and you are invited to come and see your child dance
during their PE time. We will all be dressed in our best country attire so put your
boots and hat on and come join us.
Finally, our PTA is planning the traditional fund raiser of Clemson vs. Carolina.
Please send your coins in to help raise money for PTA projects. The winner will be
announced on Monday, November 23. The losing administrator gets to wear the col-
ors of the opposing team on Tuesday, November 24. To set the record straight Mrs.
Powers is a Gamecock fan and I am for Clemson.
As we come into this Thanksgiving season the Student Council is collecting can
goods for Sharing God’s Love. Please send in a can good to help needy families in
our community. This project will end on Tuesday, November 24.
We are so blessed to have our wonderful Seven Oaks families to share this season of
the year and may this be a time of thankfulness.

1st Art Show

ing" event. The art works of

in the Multi-purpose room on
display until January 20th,
2010, but at this special
"Gallery Opening Event", peo-
ple will be able to see the stu-
dent artists with their works.

event from 8:00 to 8:30 AM,

SOES Receives $1000.00 Grant!

Dear Students, Parents and Faculty,
Thank you for your support with the cookie dough fundraiser. We, the PTA, appreciate your patience with the delays that we
encounter during this fundraiser. We have learned much and have discussed whether or not to use this company in the future. The win-
ners went on their limo ride with Mrs. Copelan and CiCi’s pizza lunch on Thursday, November 5th. Congratulations to all the winners.
Our next dinner will be Thursday, November 19th. This will be in conjunction with the Scholastic Book Fair and Literacy night.
Dinner will be pizza and drinks. Fliers will be sent out this week.
We will be sending out information for this year’s Talent Show to be held in January 2010. The deadline for submission will be
the middle of December. Be on the lookout for your registration flier and have your kids tune up their talents for the show.
The PTA and Schlotzsky’s Deli have teamed up for Seven Oaks/Schlotzsky’s dinner night. The school will receive 10% of all
Seven Oaks families that eat dinner on these nights. This is scheduled the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 5pm-8pm, with the exception
of November. This month we will have Schlotzsky’s night on Tuesday, November 10th, from 5pm-8pm. Please take your flier with you
and present it at the counter when ordering your dinner. There will be a special visitor from our school attending this function. Please
make sure you come out to support our PTA and school – plus no cooking or cleaning up after dinner parents!!
Please continue to collect Campbell Soup labels, Caprisun juice pouches, ink cartridges, cell phones, pop tops from aluminum
soda cans, Box Tops and Tyson Chicken labels and send them into school. The PTA sends these off for money and items to help the
school and teachers in turn helping SOES students.

ria on Nov. 19 at 6:30.
Two New Changes at Seven Oaks
Seven Oaks is very fortunate to have caring adults in our community
who are willing to volunteer their time for our students. Student
safety is our top concern. Therefore, we are implementing two proce-
dures for adults entering our building and working with our students.
Lobby Guard is a machine in our office which will sign in all visi-
tors to our school. You will need to bring your photo ID each time
you visit the school. The office staff will assist you with any ques-
tions but please allow extra time if you are coming for lunch as the
procedure for visiting could take a little longer than usual.
This is a district request that all volunteers working with children as a
mentor, chaperone or anyone who works closely with students will
be required to have a SLED background check and a sex offender
screening. All district staff before they are hired have to complete
this application and check. Your child’s teacher and office will have
these applications. If you are considering chaperoning a field trip or
working as a mentor or in the classroom please complete this form.
The district is paying for the process so please know that this is for
the safety of all our children and safety is our number one priority.
