effect of ones
behavior on others

-Work on self-
awareness, keep in
touch with myself and
be aware of my
behavior

- Take care of myself,
make sure I am in a
good place while at
clinical

- be aware of others
non-verbal
communication,
behavior, etc. when
interacting with me

-receive feedback from
my interactions and
communication with
others

- Re read counseling for
health professionals-
chapters on self-
awareness and
communication

Ive noticed the
reaction of the
residents to me and
my behavior

When I am happy
and show warmth
when speaking with
them I can sense
their comfort with
me

I showed a non-
judgmental attitude
with my client at a
time he felt
embarrassed and I
noticed this calmed
him and I could tell
he was grateful

I have made sure to
take care of myself,
enough sleep, keep
the stress down, and
my mood and
behavior reflects this.

5- I give myself a 5
because I think I fully
recognize the effect
that my actions,
behavior and non-
verbal communication
have on others. I
recognize the response
I get when I have a
more open, calm,
warming behavior,
and could recognize
the effect if I were to
have a closed off,
impatient, judgmental
behavior

between mind and body

empathy through everyday
conversation

- observe other
professionals engaging in
goal oriented interactions

- practice this type of
dialogue with
coworkers/family

- find resources for
respectively
communicating goals with
patients
The journal has
helped me express
how I felt at clinical
and realize some
emotions
experienced
-I have utilized my
living stage
textbook, and found
exercises on self-
reflection, self-
expression and self-
soothing that are
helpful
-Have been
verbalizing feelings

I have expressed
warmth and
empathy to my
patients, and always
showed them
respect

Havent exactly had
a goal oriented
interaction yet, but
have observed one

Read Counseling
skills- client
centered skills and
utilized the skills
provided in the
chapter

Utilized therapeutic
touch and practiced
demonstrating
empathy

5- I give myself a 5
because I feel that I
can recognize and
identify my feelings
very well. I feel
that I am in touch
with them and have
found my own
ways to sort
through thoughts
and feelings

3- I think I have
successfully
demonstrated
warmth, empathy
and respect.
However I havent
had a specific goal
oriented
interaction with
my patients yet.
