World Premiere Film and Concert Experience Starring

Celebrated Dance Artist Margie Gillis at Drake Underground
A collaborative 360 immersive happening integrates film, music, movement and politics
TORONTO, ON Wandering Eyes radical filmmakers join forces with classical music trailblazers, Music
in the Barns, for a 60 minute immersive film and concert experience titled The Shift on June 17, 2014 at
The Drake Underground (1150 Queen St. W, Toronto, ON). This site-specific event is an imaginative
experience that integrates music, film, movement and politics, and centers around the world premiere of
four short films by the award winning tactical media duo Joseph Johnson-Cam and Ayelen Liberona.
Bridging documentary, experimental, dance film and music video genres, the films feature the
internationally celebrated modern dance artist Margie Gillis (Officer of the Order of Canada and Governor
General Performing Arts Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award) and speak to the power of movement and
the destruction we are wreaking on our planet and our bodies. The striking imagery will unfold on four
screens using video projection mapping and will be integrated with music design by Carol Gimbel (artistic
director, Music in the Barns) and live musical performances by Music in the Barns Chamber Ensemble,
and LAL's politically charged electronic music.
The Wandering Eyes tactical media initiatives have successfully targeted a broad range of social issues by
using films as tools in broader campaigns. This fusion has resulted in the creation of the worlds smallest
National Park (Moyenne Island, Seychelles), the sabotaging of the Royal Bank of Canadas greenwashing
practices at the Toronto Film Festival, and the prevention of the Conservative Party of Canada from
passing a bill that would have legalized surveillance practices. United with Music in the Barns re-
contextualization of the concert experience, the performance includes works by composers John Oswald
and Elliott Sharpe, each pushing the boundaries of the string quartet genre. The live string quartet
performance will be projected real-time via Walter Klassens Far Out Camera Rig for an up-close and
unprecedented classical music experience.
