Test Results For The ALIMe System
The high speed section of EMKIT has been fitted with the new ALIMe stators to
validate the design, the results are shown below for rated thrust and speed.
The ALIMe design is now proven for high power launch systems

3 kV Induction pulse generator based on Converteams standard
MGV0 or MGV1 high speed rotor design.
Operates at either 9300 rpm or 11700 rpm with 80 MJoules stored
energy via additional rotor mass.
Peak power of 24 MW with average power of approximately 3 MW.

Detailed design in progress and the main challenges are :
Proving, balancing and cyclic loading.
Bearing design for sea going motion with magnetic bearings.
Ship installation for withstanding gyroscopic forces.
Audible noise levels.
The alternative is the use of static super capacitors.
