The Month of
Remembrance
The month of November is
dedicated to commemorating our loved ones who have died
in the Lord. The shrine of St. Joseph in our church will be
suitably decorated for the month of November. The Book of
the Dead will be available to receive the names of our dearly
departed.
All Souls Day envelopes will be available throughout the
month of November for those who wish to have their loved
ones remembered at the Eucharist.
Remembrance Day Commemoration
Wed., Nov. 11 at 7:30 pm
The O.L.S. Senior Choir will sponsor their 5 th consecutive
special hour-long Remembrance Day commemoration on
Wed.,Nov. 11 at 7:30 pm in the Church. This is an
ecumenical event of prayer, music and readings. John Fraser
will be our guest speaker. He is an author and is currently
Master of Massey College, U. of T. He is a founding
member of the Canada Afghanistan Solidarity Committee.
A reception with the veterans, their families and the
congregation will follow.

Get Ready to Launch!
Reach out with us! We’re launching the parish’s campaign
earlier this year and our committee at Our Lady of Sorrows
is planning some fun ways to raise money for Share Life
agencies, the Seminary, and Third World development and
peace. Let’s build community spirit right here in our own
parish while helping others.
We’re planning a Christmas ornament sale, youth activities,
ballroom dancing lessons in the parish hall, a bingo night, a
spring fashion show, a Valentine’s dinner-dance, a raffle,
and a pasta lunch with a barter & trade day. We’ll have
activities for our entire community and we hope you will
share your talents and join us.

AAdopt a Family@ - Christmas Help
Once again we are asking parishioners if they would like
to provide a family in need with special gifts at Christmas.
If you are interested please leave your name and telephone
number at the church office before November 24th. A
Vincentian will then call you to discuss this work of
charity in greater detail.
Bundle UP Collection - Nov. 28th / 29th
As the colder weather settles in, there are many families
and individuals in need of warm clothing (including
outerwear: coats, jackets, sweaters, gloves, mittens, hats,
scarves, shoes & boots...), sleeping bags, sheets, blankets
and comforters. In addition, draperies and other textiles
are welcome.
You generous donations are welcome the weekend of
Nov. 28th & 29th. Please place your donations into the
back of the truck which will be parked in the parish lot.
The truck will be open until after the 5 pm Saturday Mass
and until 5 pm on Sunday. Please remember to tie your
bundles securely, for ease of handling.
Shepherds’ Trust Collection
Next Weekend
The mission of the Shepherds’ Trust is to raise awareness
and funds so that elderly and disabled priests are provided
with sufficient financial resources to lead a dignified life
after many years of ministry. The fund supports the needs
of retired clergy in the Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto
who have served our family of faith for many years. By
supporting the Shepherds’ Trust, retired priests are given
the dignity of adequate pensions, health care and other

Pasta and Movie Night This Weekend
Sun., Nov. 8th - 6:00 - 9:30 pm ( Church Hall)
Come and enjoy a dinner of homemade meatballs and
pasta (vegetarians can skip the former!) & stay for a
screening of the Canadian classic 'Black Robe.' Dinner
will be served at 6 pm and the movie will start around 7
pm. The evening will conclude with a short discussion.

CWL Daylight Retreat
Sun., Nov. 22nd (Feast of Christ the King)
CWL members are invited to join us for our annual retreat.
There will be a catered luncheon following 12:30 pm Mass.
Our Guest Speaker will be Sr. Agnes Roger (Carmelite

paid at the door. Please note: Advanced Reservation is

Singers Welcome - 11 am Choir
We welcome singers who would like to serve the Church
and God with the talents they have been given, in support of
the Sunday liturgy. Interested singers are invited to call the
parish office at 416-231-6016. Gordon Mansell will then set
up an interview and audition. A commitment of eight week
blocks would be acceptable.

Communication from Archbishop Thomas Collins
For the health and safety of all people of faith, parishes
must implement the changes outlined below at all masses
until further notice.
- Temporarily suspend communion from the chalice
- Temporarily suspend communion on the tongue
- Hand Cleaning stations near church entrances
- No shaking hands during ‘Sign of Peace’ (nod/bow)
- Those distributing communion must wash hands before
Mass and must use an alcohol-based sanitizer before and
after distributing communion
