Reflection Professional Value
The second part of my internship has proven a little more challenging than the first. I compiled a
series of clip books for each of the Feld clients for its respective events: Monster Jam, Disney On
Ice and the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus. Each of these events was in Fairfax,
Baltimore and Washington, D.C., which massively increased the volume of clips to be collected.
I had very tight deadlines for these clip books, which was another great lesson in time
management. Assembling and delivering the press kits for these events was also another great
crash course in the public relations business. These tasks were so important to Feld because of
the crucialty of media coverage to their company. I also conducted a lot of research for Feld, and
was able to attend the media party for Disney On Ice. Attending the media party was a great
experience because I had seen the party in its planning stages, delivered the press kits to the
reporters and bloggers who were invited, and then greeted and talked with the writers at the party
itself. It was great to see a plan come completely full-circle.

Reflection Personal Value
It was very interesting to watch Qorvis Communications transition into Qorvis/MSLGROUP
upon its acquisition by PR powerhouse MSL. There was definitely a shift in the office culture,
and I was introduced to at least 30 new public relations professionals in a matter of days. I took
advantage of several networking opportunities and was able to make some great connections. In
terms of my own goals, I did get to write a fair amount more and interact with the media much
more than in the first part of my internship.

Major Connection
One academic connection I made during this part of my internship was definitely organizational
assimilation theory, which entails three segments: anticipatory socialization, organizational
encounter and metamorphosis. MSLGROUPs acquisition of Qorvis and the subsequent
combination of the offices was a great example of this theory in action.
