If you bridged out the correct wires 'Check Engine amp' will be flashing (the engine fan
will also run ! this is normal).
"he flashes are divided into # groups with roughly a second between each. $ou can read
the flashes as follows%
"he first series of flashes is tens& so for e'ample lets say the first flash simply flashes
once& this means the code is (). *fter the pause (+( second) a second series of flashes
will appear& if this number is #& the code it is spitting out is (# which means everything is
fine.
*nother e'ample%
"he first series of flashes you count is , meaning ,)& the second series of flashes is -.
*dding the ,) and the - will give you a code of ,- which means the .nock sensor circuit
is e'periencing problems.
Each code the computer picks up is repeated three times with +- second pause
between& so its wise to sit there to make sure there isn't any problems it has picked up.
/nce you are finished turn off your ignition and remove the paper clip. It is important to
note not to drive the car around while have wires are bridged as this will prevent new
codes from being logged.
Everyone will get a (# first. If you get a (#& - times& then it repeats the (# again -
times that is indicating that there have been no logged faults. If you only checked the (#
and didnt wait # seconds after the -rd (# flash than there may possibly be more fault
codes. 0ut if (# is the only log than there are no recorded problems. "his does not mean
there are no faults& 1ust none that have been read by the computer.
"o clear the error log remove the engine fuse& #)*& under the bonnet near the battery
for a few seconds.
