    The Civil Services Exam (CSE) consists of two phases: the preliminary exam and the main exam. The preliminary exam is a screening test with two objective papers of 100 and 80 questions worth 200 and 200 marks respectively. The marks obtained at this phase only qualify candidates for the main exam and are not considered in the final merit list. The main exam consists of 9 papers testing general studies, English proficiency, and two optional subjects. The papers are worth between 100-250 marks each for a total of 1800. An interview is also conducted carrying 275 marks. The final merit is determined based on the combined score of 2075 marks from the main exam and interview.

    CSAT (Prelims) Pattern

    The Preliminary Examination consists of two papers of Objective type (multiple choice questions) and carry maximum of 400 marks. This
    exam is only a screening test; the marks obtained in the prelims are only for qualifying for main exam and are not counted for
    determining final order of merit.

    The pattern has changed from 2013 main examination. The new pattern is:
