THE SOLAR POWER

1.

INTRODUCTION
Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaic, or
indirectly using concentrated solar power.
2.1. HOW IT WORKS
The basic element of solar panels is the same element that helped create the computer
revolution -- pure silicon. When silicon is stripped of all impurities, it makes an ideal neutral
platform for the transmission of electrons. Silicon also has some atomic-level properties which
make it even more attractive for the creation of solar panels. Silicon atoms have room for eight
electrons in their outer bands. If one silicon atom contacts another silicon atom, each receives
the other atom's four electrons. This creates a strong bond. Silicon atoms can combine for years
to result in a large piece of pure silicon. This material is used to form the plates of solar panels.
2.2. TYPES

Passive solar power: The solar passive technology is the set of techniques destine for the
utilization of the solar power of direct form.

Thermal solar power: The thermal solar power consists of the utilization of the energy of the
sun to produce heat.

Photovoltaic solar power: The photovoltaic solar power consists of the obtaining of electricity,
obtained directly from the solar radiation.

Thermoelectric solar power: The thermoelectric energy is the form of energy that proves to
liberate the water.

Hybrid solar power: The hybrid solar power is a system of production of energy, which
combines the solar power with the energy obtained in a conventional thermal power station.
3. ADVANTAGES
1. Is a renewable energy.
2. The only cost is the manufacturing cost of the components and installation.
3. A system can eliminate 18 tons of greenhouse gases.
4. Isnt noise pollution.
5. It use in remote locations.
6. Doesnt pollutes.
7. Is an inexhaustible source.
8. This system is use in zones where there isnt electricity.
9. Easy maintenance.
10. Doesnt needs additional space.
11. Reduces the dependence.
4. DISADVANTAGES
1. It doesnt beautiful.
2. Not be so attractive.
3. You havent got enough space.
4. Need much money.
5. Necessary complemented this method with others.
6. Doesnt has sufficiently intensity.
5. THE ENVIRONMENT IMPACT
The consequences of using solar power are very beneficious to reduce the greenhouse gases such as
carbon dioxide or methan. It also helps to reduce other phenomena a like acid rain. Other benefit for
this energy is that helps flora and fauna. It has no cons against the environment.
5.1. AIR

Where are clearly seen low amounts of CO
2
that although perhaps not be null for other outside
activities, remain constant.
5.2. FLOOR
A very important thing to consider here is that if electricity is generated by solar energy we would
have to modify ecosystems.
5.3. WILDLIFE
With no of climate modification due to greenhouse atmosphere, ecosystems remain in equilibrium
and therefore its species intact.
6. COST
The photovoltaic consumption consist of individual small-scale production of electricity for own
consumption. It can be complemented with the net balance in stand-alone installations or facilitate
energy independence.
