SAP BW 7.4 Powered by HANA -- Promising
Features (Part 4)
Hi All,
Recently, I got a chance to work on a project which involved SAP BW 7.4 SP5.
The latest SP5 of SAP BW 7.4 powered by HANA comes up with a lot of new and enhanced features.
I have tried to explore the so called new features and has taken the help of HELP.SAP wherever required.
This is the Fourth/Last in the 4 part series of documents which will take you through the various new features.
Part 1 of the series can be found in the link : http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-53205
Part 2 of the series can be found in the link : http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-53210
Part 3 of the series can be found in the link : http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-53527
26) Remodelling is now enhanced to Infoobject aswell.

A new UI is available for master data, replacing the previous master data maintenance. The new and more
user-friendly master data maintenance enables you to process mass data, and aids you with the creation of
excess-length texts. It also supports the creation of texts in multiple languages.

30) High Cardinality for Characteristics.
You can now set the property "high cardinality" for characteristics. This enables the generation of more than
two billion SIDs for a characteristic.

31) New Enhancements in Process Chains:(Extracted from Help.Sap)
Various changes have been made for process chains:
a) You can stop a process chain run that is running by using a menu entry in the plan view or check view.
You can use this function to resolve incorrect process configurations, which can result in an unbearably high
load volume or long runtimes. Once the run has been stopped, you can improve the configuration of one or
more processes and then run the process chain again.
b) Using an attribute, you can specify that the previous process chain run will be reset if an error occurs.
The process chain makes all failed processes (supported by this function) clean their failed instances from
the previous run before a new process chain run is started. This function ensures that any further runs of the
process chain are not negatively impacted by processes that previously failed.
c) In the process chain maintenance screen, you can specify that a particular process will be skipped (not
executed) during the process chain run.
You can use this function if there is not enough time before the next process chain run to resolve an error from
the previous run, and this error would cause the next run to fail. Once you have resolved the error, you can
include the process in the process chain run again.
d) In the process chain maintenance screen, you can specify that a process will be automatically repeated if it
is terminated.

Previously, it was only possible to repeat a process manually in the log view. Therefore, this function makes it
easier to handle processes that contain errors in chains.
e) Improvements to the user interface:
--> By double-clicking on the the Request Template field in the DTP Monitor, you can display the DTP version
that the DTP was created with.
--> When inserting a DTP in the chain in process chain maintenance, input help is now provided so that
you can search by various criteria, for example by the DTP's source and target, the DTP type, status or
processing model.
32) Cache Parameters in RSRT enhanced(extracted from Help.Sap)
On the Edit Cache Parameters screen, you can change the settings for the OLAP cache.
The parameter Inactive Cache has been renamed as Local Cache Only.
A new option has been added: Auto Adjustment for the default database cache limit.
You still have the option of using Additional cache settings for query to change the cache settings for every
individual query in the system. However, SAP only advise this course of action if problems occur when
executing the query with cache mode Database Cache.

33) Integration with SAP Business Planning and Consolidation 10.1, Version for SAP NetWeaver: Unified
(extracted from Help.Sap)
SAP Business Planning and Consolidation 10.1, version for SAP NetWeaver, Unified makes it possible to
create integrated planning solutions in SAP BW, which provide high flexibility and usability for specialist users.
This integration includes settings for the environment of Planning & Consolidation Unified for the underlying
data model of the BW-integrated planning or the underlying data model of SAP HANA-optimized execution
in the Planning Applications Kit. A Web-based administrator client allows end users to define and monitor
planning processes of their own, without having to call on the IT department.
34) Audit option(extracted from Help.Sap)
Using the data audit, you can track changes made to transaction data on input-ready query level (for example,
if data was changed in the query and who made the changes). The user can view the audit information for
every query cell - in the form of delta values from the change history, in a corresponding audit query.
