DTM (Dual Transfer Mode)
Description
DTM allows simultaneous transfer of CS service and PS service.
The subscriber can send photos or browse websites during the call conversation
DTM can provide services similar to those provided in a 3G network.
Common DTM
MS which can support Class 5 and Class 7 Multi-Ts
Notes: the BSC must support BSS paging coordination in packet transfer mode, if the Network Operation Mode II or III is configured in a cell.
5
State transition in DTM mode
Class 11 DTM
Support: Speech + 1Downlink + 2Uplink
Benefits: Class 11 DTM doubles the uplink rate, the uplink rate of the EGPRS can reach 110 kbit/s
6
HMC DTM (High Multi-slot classes DTM)
Support: Speech + 3Downlink + 1Uplink, Speech + 2Downlink + 2Uplink, and Speech + 1Downlink + 3Uplink
Benefits: Based on common DTM, HMC DTM triples the uplink and downlink rates.

Dual Carrier in Downlink
Description:
Dual carrier can improve DL data rate by double it. Each MS can be allocated a bandwidth wider than 200kHz.
Restriction:
MS must support MSRD with 2 antennas. Dual carrier in DL can not be used simultaneously with MSRD. BSC must support Dual Carrier in DL. MS TBF mode must be EDGE.
Dual Carrier in Downlink
4 TS allocated in DL single carrier mode
8 TS allocated in DL dual-carrier mode
9
Dual Carrier in Downlink
Configuration:
[Support Downlink Dual-Carrier] is set to SUPPORT.
DL PS load of cell < [MSRD PDCH Multiplex Thres]
MS coding scheme > [MSRD MCS Thres]
MSRD
Description:
It is a MS features. The extra antenna is configured to improve DL receive performance. Through dual antenna interference elimination, it enhance the channel diversity capability.
MSRD improve signal quality and enable MS to use higher code rate. Thus improve DL data rate.
Restriction:
MS must support MSRD with 2 antennas.
Dual carrier in DL can not be used simultaneously with MSRD.
10
MSRD
Configuration:
MS automatically support MSRD when Dual Carrier in DL is not in used.
DL PS load of cell > [MSRD PDCH Multiplex Thres]
MS coding scheme < [MSRD MCS Thres]

EGPRS2
Description:
In downlink, EGPRS2-A uses the Turbo codes and 16QAM/32QAM modulation scheme.
In uplink, EGPRS2-A uses convolution codes and 16QAM modulation scheme.
Restriction:
MS must support EGPRS2 modulation scheme

PS Handover
Description:
In order to reduce the delay of cell reselection, HW introduce PS Handover feature that can allocate radio resources to MS in the target cell before cell reselection is performed.
The delay can be shortened to no more than 150ms.
Restriction:
MS must support PS Handover.
BSC support PS Handover (with license)
SGSN support PS Handover
PS Handover
Procedure:
MS support NC0 or NC1:
MS sends Packet Cell Change Notification Message to BSC which contain information of the target before trigger the handover.
MS support NC2:
MS sends MR to the BSC and BSC will select the target cell for PS handover. BSC will then send down the target cell information to the MS.

PS handover
Configuration:
[Support NACC] is set to YES
[PS Hanover Support] is set to YES
[Support Out Inter-RAT Inter-cell PS Handover] is set to SUPPORT. This is to support PS Handover to 3G FDD target cells.
