Dual Carrier in Downlink

Description:

Dual carrier can improve DL data rate by double it. Each MS can be allocated a bandwidth wider than 200kHz.

Restriction:

MS must support MSRD with 2 antennas. Dual carrier in DL can not be used simultaneously with MSRD. BSC must support Dual Carrier in DL. MS TBF mode must be EDGE.

MSRD

Description:

It is a MS features. The extra antenna is configured to improve DL receive performance. Through dual antenna interference elimination, it enhance the channel diversity capability.

MSRD improve signal quality and enable MS to use higher code rate. Thus improve DL data rate.

Restriction:

MS must support MSRD with 2 antennas.

Dual carrier in DL can not be used simultaneously with MSRD.

PS Handover

Description:

In order to reduce the delay of cell reselection, HW introduce PS Handover feature that can allocate radio resources to MS in the target cell before cell reselection is performed.

The delay can be shortened to no more than 150ms.

Restriction:

MS must support PS Handover.

BSC support PS Handover (with license)

Page26

PS Handover

Procedure:

MS support NC0 or NC1:

MS sends Packet Cell Change Notification Message to BSC which contain information of the target before trigger the handover.

MS support NC2:

MS sends MR to the BSC and BSC will select the target cell for PS handover. BSC will then send down the target cell information to the MS.
