Miami University

History
It started in 1925 when a group of citizens wanted higher learning for the
growing community. The first class was on 1926 and South Florida was the
best choice. In 1926 there were only 500 students but a hurricane
happened and Florida became a disaster. For 15 years the university barely
sustained itself. The university survived because of Dr. Bowman F. Ashe
who overcame bankruptcy for the school. When the school started in only
had College of Liberal Arts, the School of Music, and the Evening Division.
Then during the Ashe presidency he added the School of Law , the School
of Business Administration , the School of Education , the Graduate School
, the Marine Laboratory; the School of Engineering , and the School of
Medicine .
